Do you ever foresee KW petitioning the VHSL to play football only in the NND or the Bay Rivers District. I mean last year was the first time in about 8 years that KW won a district games whose final point spread was less than two touchdowns.
I doubt it would be granted, but there's feeling something must be done because it's apparent that those final 4-5 games don't help them, at least in the recent past.

Honestly I don't know if they will or not. I guess down the road it's a possibility. Also wouldn't think it would be bad to add teams like Bruton and New Kent into the Tidewater. What hurts KW in my opinion, and it's through no fault of their own, is they are the only Division 2 team in the area. They are playing Prince Edward and Woodstock this year, 2 teams that are new to the schedule. Definitely playing in such a weak district does them no favors. Honestly I wouldn't mind seeing them return to the NND. All 1A teams but a whole lot better competition.

I doubt KW will seek out tougher competition. They seem to get thrilled about beating teams half their size. I know every time they beat us they act like they won the superbowl

Not their fault they are by far the largest school around. Can't help that. They are playing Prince Edward and Woodstock this year who are Division 2 and both aren't bad teams, especially Woodstock. They play Essex every year and pretty much the same with W&L. I'm pretty sure if you asked the coaches, they'd prefer to play in the NND as well.

I doubt they would say that, 4-6 is my prediction this year, starting a sophomore QB.

I heard that the QB from last year was not playing this year (his senior year). Didn't hear who was stepping in spot for him.

I have personally heard them say that more than once. I don't know if Huffman will play this year or not. I've heard those rumors also. I do know the sophomore qb in waiting, Lance Alfonso is very good. Has been training with Sam Rogers this summer and last weekend he was at the Florida State camp. As for what their record might be this year, I don't know. I do believe it will be better than 4-6 though. KW hasn't finished below .500 since the mid 70s and I doubt it will start this year. They will be young in some positions but they are talented. They do have the luxury of returning 4 starting lineman including 6'3 285 Tommy Riffe who has been to camps at UNC,UVA and others this summer. And the cupboard isn't bare at KW as the group of rising 8th graders is very talented with a couple of studs, not to mention the current group of 11 year olds who are 3 time defending Metro Youth League Champions champions in a league that is predominantly Richmond teams.

I've thought for awhile that KW, New Kent, Bruton, and Poquoson should form a new district, perhaps a revival of the old Peanut. More recently though, with Richmond city school enrollments falling to 2A/3A numbers, it makes more sense for KW to be in a district with TJ, John Marshall, Wythe, Armstrong, and Goochland. Clearly, Tidewater does not offer enough competition, at least in football.

8th graders and 11 year olds are not going to help this year, I am just saying they are going to be down this year from years past, they are going to have a rough season IMO, I hope not but that's my thinking since Huffman is not playing.

Oh I know they won't help this year, I was just saying the cupboard isn't bare and the future is very bright. I'm not sure if Huffman is playing or not. But like I said in the other post, the Alfonso kid is very good and I think they would do fine with him. I've seen him throw and he has a very strong and accurate arm and working out with an NFL player and going to camps like Florida State will only make him better and improve his confidence. They will be young in a lot of the skill positions but I look for sophomore Marc Gresham to have a big year. He came on strong at the end of last year when given an opportunity. I think they will finish between 6-4 and 8-2. That's my honest opinion. I think they go 5-0 in the Tidewater. Beat Bruton. Prince Edward and W&L are both toss ups and think Essex and Woodstock will be their hardest games.

The Tidewater is down, but King William is too. Charles City, Middlesex and West Point played KW tough last year. Not going to argue with anything you said except one. Just cause a kid goes to camps doesn't mean he is going to be a lot better, it means he got a t-shirt. lol

Yes I agree anyone can go to a camp. He did have to pay but he also was selected. The exact same camp that Adarious Jones, formerly of Essex and currently at Bishop Sullivan, went to last year as a rising sophomore, and who now holds three D1 offers including Virginia Tech. Not saying Alfonso or Riffe or anyone on the roster will go D1 but they will play on Saturdays somewhere.
