804 and 757 media just posted their top 10 RBs for the State and it’s as follows,

1. Savion Hitter- Louisa
2. SirPaul Cheeks- Varina
3. Michael Farley- Varina
4. Lawrence Hewlett- Prince George
5. Tayshawn Branche- Maury
6. Daeron Ferguson- TeeJay
7. Tyjae Curtis- Oscar Smith
8. Amari Pryear- Bethal
9. Charles Jackson Jr- Green Run
10. Darren Williams- Varina

Varina has 3 of the top 10 backs on this list do you agree or disagree and who would you switch? Who’s missing? And should teams fear Varina with 4 good backs? That’s uncommon.

GIMME JOSH ADAMS. Dinwiddie Generals.

WOW! Didn’t know Daeron transferred from HS to TeeJay. He was one of the most impressive players I saw last year.

Maybe they aren’t big time recruits (yet) or top of the state (yet), but rising juniors Mccadden (tailback) and Arrington (fullback) should have promising years in a run heavy offense, both likely had ~1000 yards last year as sophomores.

Is there any place to get Salem statistics? I’d be interested where they ended up last year

Yeah Varina has 4 great running backs and 3 of them are top 10 backs. That is a deep running back room I see maybe 2 of them playing slot WR because of the depth at RB.
Varina has the athletes every year so it’s nothing new that they are loaded. The key this year will be not running Kaleb Wyche into the ground and offensive playcalling. I just feel like they have way too many hands in the pot. Would like to see Williams play in the slot (replace Myles Anderson), Tre Rogers on the opposite side slot, and D1 Carter and Sir Paul on the outside. I like Bre Bonner and Farley as the 1-2 punch in the backfield. Definitely can get Sir Paul and Williams 4-5 touches, each, in the backfield if need be.

Does Varina run a 3 RB offensive system?

In my opinion Amari Pryear from Bethel is 2nd best back in the state after Hitter. He’s only 5’6 and that’s the only thing holding him back. He could go for 2000 in 10 games this year. Hes that good

I know Varina always has athletes, I had to really think on this because I’ve seen it a lot that’s never been a question. They’ve always been a team that develops and gets better as the season goes on. But this year it’s way different. They’re not just going in with raw talent; they’re going in prepared and experienced. These aren’t one-year breakout players they’ve got 2- to 3-year guys who’ve been consistently good, and now they’ve added some key upgrades on top of that. Not just anyone but we talking D1 football guys all around. This group is built for a deep run right from Week 1. Seems a lot like 2021-2022 when they won the states just saying.
