I hope you will try to meet up with us for a hand shake today. Unless something changes, I've suggested around 3:45 on the Liberty home side, on the main concorse. I think in front of the building where the elevator is is probably the best place.

Safe travels, DP

Thanks for the invite but I am missing my first Lafayette playoff game in 17 years. The drive all these years later is a little much for me at 6 hours RT. When no bus was contracted as in past years (very surprised) and my friend who goes to all the games with me had surgery today and could not drive with me so I would be solo I opted for the live stream from VHSL. Now that we will be 4a for at least the next 4 years I am sure we will be meeting !

I look forward to meeting you along the way. Sorry your team lost, but they played a great game, and had a terrific season. Only 12 teams in the entire state got to have the experience of playing for a state championship. The pride in this fact will eventually take the place of the sadness the young men feel right now.

For what it is worth, we sat with a wonderful family from Magna Vista. And all around us were friendly, respectful MV fans. You lost a tough, close game, but you lost to a school and a community with class and respect for all kids and the game.

Maybe it's a good thing your Lafayette team Is moving up next year. MV loses only four seniors off of this team.

Thanks- the two keys to this game for us were ;

1. Our potent running attack totally fizzled. I do not imagine the MV defense could be that good all game.
2. Our starting QB being out did turn out to be critical in the end as his 600 yd rushing and some 1300 yd passing void really hurt. A couple of open receivers were missed and Pine had 2 key fumbles.

But that is the way the ball bounces in football. Next year MV returns a lot, so dies Western Ablemarle. But I think Serbay and JM will be on a real mission. You tell by his comments after the game last week. But Phoebus goes down to 3a next year so that may impact everyone. We will be in the playoffs next year with 4 returning rb's and our 2 tall Wr also back. But how good is unknown especially on defense. I am disappointed but yet satisfied with 14-1 and a 6 point loss with our conference offensive player of the year lost at QB in MCGinty for the final. Pine is going to be a top QB next year but to prepare for championship game in 1 week with only 14 passes all year as a back up is/ was unrealistic in the end. Good luck to you and your family to all in Rideway- championships do not always come that often. See you next year in 4a!!!

I don't know if I mentioned this earlier, but Dinwiddie and James Monroe have agreed to a two year deal. JM will certainly be a challenge for us, as well as for any other team. We also secured the same deal with Hanover. Oh we'll, you can't be the best if you can't beat the best.

Again, great season Lafayette, and best wishes next year.
