I see that they had an unbeaten season for what I believe is the second year in a row. I know that last year they lost to Galax at home in the semi-finals. Any chance they are stronger this year and can make it further?

From what I’ve watched on Holston this season I don’t see Galax having issues with them. The 6th best team in 1C gave them all they wanted for 3 quarters and had it not been for three big turnovers in the second half, Narrows may have pulled it off against Holston. I feel like the top 4 teams in 1C could beat Holston IMO
I dont see them getting past whoever comes out of C. Not trying to minimize their undefeated season but they havent exactly faced premiere competition. Thats just my opinion, and you know what they say about opinions.
IMO they cant win against any of the 4 left in C. Everybody knows its going to be Galax tho.
Holston isn't a slam dunk to win this weekend. Grundy is probably the second best team in 1D. I think Holston wins, but not surprised if Grundy got the upset and went on to win region 1D. I think the region champion is the winner of the Holston-Grundy game this coming weekend, and it's not a sure win for Holston with the way Grundy is playing.
GW is to and not by a course score. Not trying to take away from an undefeated Holston team. But if they're in C they're lucky to be 6-4 or 5-5. Region D is just down and way down at that no team left from D can beat any of the 4 left from C without the help of an absolutely horrible night on the field.
I would argue that that Region C is weakest it has been in years….. Galax is a solid team but nowhere near caliber of the previous 10 Galax teams. There is a considerable drop off for anyone after Galax.
I have mixed emotions on that it’s the weakest Galax team in 10 years . In one way I can see that as Galax has had some stud teams but you could also argue against it. They went toe to toe with the number 1 team in 2C in Glenvar after only having one week of practice. They beat another top seeded team in 2C in Radford . Then played the number 1 team in the state in 2AA Graham in which their toughest game besides Union , In which the score was 7 -0 at half time. They also handed 2 AAA teams loses

I think you guys are way too hard on Holston. Aside from Galax, they could absolutely beat a PM, Giles or GW. They're a good team. 10-0 ain't easy. No team scored more than 16 on them all year, and that was 10-1 Twin Springs who they beat 41-16. They ended up beating Narrows by three scores. RR, Twin Springs, PH (GS), Chilhowie, they've beaten some good teams. 1D is def down but let's not pretend GW is Riverheads. Holston could absolutely beat them. Could lose too, but they're not some horrible team.
They definitely gave Galax a better fight last year than the final score showed.
Holston is a damn good football team, you don't get to 11-0 being bad. I know some will say they play a weaker schedule but they have played and beat everyone who was put in front of them. I believe they will be a tough out for anyone they face.
I agree with you but the thing with Galax last year was they were so up and down and not everyone got there A game and I definitely don't think Holston got there A game last year and some of that was due to Holston being a good team and some of it was just Galax being Galax and not playing up to there potential.

Not disagreeing that C is down as well but a down C is better than a down D. Imo a down C is better than a solid D and Galax might not be 100% of what they've been but they are a good 80% of it. Galax is probably the second best the in 1A by some margin sadly the best team in 1A is 50+ better than the field.
God no I'm not saying GW is RH they'd hang 70+ on us without much trouble at all. But if I'm being honest GW beats Holston not by much but I think we'd beat them. And they are capable of beating us as well. And yes they've rolled basically each team they've played but who have they played? Holston imo is 6-4 if they're in C and I think that'll be proven when they play Galax. Not counting out Giles being the C champs but they would need an outstanding game to beat Galax.
Thats the truth I mean they beat us by 1 but if anyone on this planet thinks that GW was within a point of Galax then I'll have what they are smoking haha.

Did you call Narrows a good team? 🥴 Narrows finished 6th in 1C and was only trailing Holston 7-6 at the half. Three turnovers on their side of the field in the second half is why Holston pulled away.
I believe Giles is far better than most give credit for. GW is also and PM would get them in think and I know I'll take a ton of shit on this one but FC was better than alot think they would've given them a game I think. Again I'm not trying to take away from Holston they are the only
11-0 team in SWVA so they can play. But there are levels to this game and the competition they've played while some may look good on paper I can't buy into the hype yet. When and if they beat Galax or Giles then I'll believe it same type of deal as Hurley a few years back. Murdered each team they faced then they ran into PM and got mushed on. But in reality none of it matters RH is simply waiting for the 1st Saturday in December then they hang 50+ on whoever the second best team is.
Couple of things. First anytime you go undefeated it’s an accomplishment because lots of things have to go right for that to happen. Holston is good and can play from the little bit I have watched. I would argue that so are Grundy, PH and possibly TS but the Titans would be my odd team out tbh. Second, I am not sure when allowing the comparing of common opponents is acceptable but IMO its about matchups too so that doesn’t always work out.
I personally feel as if Grundy has a good chance to knock off Holston but then again Holston might hang a 50 spot on them.
Not gonna lie I feel like there are some sneaky good teams that have a loss or two that a lot of people have given up on or overlooked.
As for RH hanging 50 in whoever they meet in Salem, there are several roadblocks to the Gladiators getting there. I think they can win to get there but anything can happen. I am intrigued by how much love Central is getting but they have a quality program so I am not surprised they have improved. Out East you have the always dangerous Essex and three solid contenders. West Point and K&Q showed they can play last year and I wouldn’t be surprised is either make the state semis.
Overall there are 7 really good games in 1A this week. Will we have a clearer picture of the ability of those teams as we get to see them under pressure against better competition. All due respect to everyone’s opinion but to play this weekend and next is special too. I promise there are plenty of kids that wish they could play just one more week. So safe travels to the visitors this week and good luck to everyone left chasing around he dream of raising the trophy in Salem December 11th.

I don't think RH is 50+ better than anyone after tonight . Two weeks off can set up mess with kids staying focused . Time will tell . jmo
I might he wrong and I hope it doesn't happen but covid is probably the only thing that would stop Riverheads....I wouldn't wish that on any team.
no I pointed out they beat a 1C playoff team by three TDs. They won at PH GS, won at Chilhowie, and only lost 27-6 to Galax last year and they were in that game for long stretches. Best the #2 seed in 1D by 30 on the road.
They can't beat Galax, but they aren't some bum team. I think they could absolutely beat GW or PM, maybe even Giles. They could also lose as well but Holston beating any of the three wouldn't be a gigantic shocker.
In the last 19 games goinback to spring, Holston is 17-2. An opening four point loss to Grayson and the loss to Galax.
Lotta people picking Grundy, they're playing really well right now.
I'd put money on Holston probably being a better team than most on here think, but I do think they might have hands full tonight but I don't see them being easy out for anyone left in the west.

I think anytime you lose a outstanding QB to graduation and your head coach and end up going 10-0 the following year. Is one hell of a accomplishment!

I wouldn't be shocked if they beat any of the 3 they are a good football team and we'll coached. I think a game against GW or PM is very close and could go either way. I think Giles handles them pretty good and Galax walks em with ease. If I'm wrong I'm wrong but if they get past C the big Red is waiting and that will not end well at all.
They would struggle with PMs size and Galax's, well, everything lol but I feel like they would beat either GW or Giles.
I only watched one series of Holston tonight but they have some talent. The Galax/PM game is going to have some big boy hitting for sure so whoever comes out of D will have to contend with that aspect. Cream rising to the top.....
Congrats to the Cavaliers. I'm as guilty as everyone else thinking the score would be close.
