It looked to me that App changed up the whole game plan after halftime. I guess coach was feeling pressure and got a little over creative on a couple drives (i.e.hail mary jump ball on 1st down in the 3rd), plus turnovers. I also believe they were a little over confident against Radford. Radford is small and dont have the numbers...they are just scrappy as i said in the title.
Appomattox is a good looking team overall. They'll be back next year for sure.

I never underestimated them. I told Appo 1 2 3 or 4 that they better watch out for Radford. Of course i thought it would be a close game with Appo coming out on top but glad they pulled it off. Esp a small school like that, that just moved up. Ill be making the trip to watch Radford and Graham/Richlands. Gonna be a tough one but go Richlands.

Congratulations, proves no outcome is ever set in stone. It's one game at a time, sometimes just one play at time. Definitely a good afternoon for Bobcat fans.

Would love for Graham to make the short trip to Radford next week and get a shot at Radford. Gotta get by Richlands first. Awesome job Bobcats!!

Congratulations bobcats, it was a hard fought game. Raiders made to many mistakes and you can't overcome those against good teams. The scrub kick and 4th & 8 left me scratching my head. The raiders can be proud though and we have a lot of youth coming back. Good luck to you.

Justice was served so to speak. Great game for Justice Marshall as always and what can you say about PJ? PJ is going to be a High School All-American and will be at least a 4 star prospect and maybe a 5. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree in the Prioleau household. I just hope he becomes a Hokie like his daddy.

That was more a freshman mistake than a coaches bad call. Good thing for the raiders is he has 3 more years and if he works hard he will be a really good player.

We didnt have a strong passing game all year, but that pressure on the ends was not picked up and left our QB running for his life. Great game plan Cats. I would have kept edges coming as well. we was horrible with picking it up.

High School All-American?? Kid is good but not that good.

I think he's absolutely good enough to be a High School All American. Not on the offensive side of the ball as he's explosive and can take it to the house, but on the defensive side. He's not going to get any looks at the FBS level on offense. On defense as a corner as he's about 5'10 now and will likely grow another 2 inches and be 6'0 feet and having put on 20 pounds by his senior year to be about 185, he's going to be a superstar and at least a 4 star recruit, maybe 5. I think he's that good.

Wow, little early for this. Ive seen players better with good grades end up at Emory. Hard to get more than 2 stars out of single A. Its just how they rank the lower divisions. If he got a 3 star rating Id say its because of who is Daddy is. Thats just how it is in single A and i dont see Radford putting Oscar Smith, T.C Williams, Lake Braddock or any schools of that nature anytime soon. Lets just hope he stays healthy for now

I remember a couple years ago Giles posters saying they has 3 running backs that ran a 4.4 40 yard dash

All fantastic players and all were 3 stats or more. James Mitchell wasn't an All American but he was close as he got some looks with the Army All American Bowl Game. I don't think he played in it though. What people have to keep in mind is that PJ is a sophomore. Cam is a senior and James Mitchell and Graves are in college right now. No way to compare PJ with these studs right now, but one can speculate what PJs ceiling is by his senior year. I think he ends up a 4 star or above type player and in contention as an All American in the secondary. Just like Cam Allen, he's not playing offense at the next level even though he plays both ways in High School and is super offensively, he's a defensive recruiting for the college level and at the cornerback position and the ability to cover, he's going to be special. Is he an All American now? Not close. Is he ready for FBS right now? Not close. But, by his senior year which is about two years from now, he will be and he will have major offers

Four stars or above would make him one of the best 3-4 recruits in the state. Those are very lofty aspirations to put on any kid. Mitchell at one time had 4* but it ended being 3* by the time he graduated.
I'm not saying the kid can't do it by any means, I'm just saying there's been some incredible talent in 2A in recent years and none of those guys had that type of buzz.

PJ man is a decent athlete but not on track for All American. Reed,Thornhill, Farrow, Hall,Peerman,Graves and Mitchell were as good or better as Sophmores and not All Americans. Fast kid but not overly impressed at this stage as with those named above. Unless he goes to some Nike, UnderArmor, etc. Showcases no chance of A.A.. just how it is. Graves went to one of them( his Junior Year ) and got his 3rd star.....ended up 3-4 Star depending on ranking group.

That's the key nowadays, going to the camps. That's where the recruiting services see you and get recognition. The internet certainly helps getting film out to everyone but those camps are still huge deals to the coaches and to a larger extent the recruiting services like 247 or Rivals.
It's also a snowball thing. If one P5 school shows interest, other schools come looking and then those 2*s suddenly become 3-4*s just because a big school has offered a scholarship.

I hope the kid has all the success in the world, but becoming a 5* player is very unlikely. There are usually under 40 5* kids in any recruiting class, that's in the entire country. So, to be a 5*, you gotta be one of the absolute 30-35 best players in the country and have tons of exposure in camps and such.

Becoming a 4 or 5 star recruit is extremely tough.

Even current VT RB Steven Peoples who set multiple state records, including the VHSL single game rushing record against Graham was not a high star recruit.

How about the kid from Ridgeview? This kid seemed to have came out of nowhere? Did he do well at a camp and get noticed that way? He has some major offers for a sophomore including VT, Tenn, Florida, Penn State. That's no joke for a sophomore. Also, I see where Graham has a freshman lineman that already has an offer from UVA.

You can her multiple D1 offers without being a high start recruit. Believe it or It alot of it comes down to the relationship the high-school coaches have with the recruiters.

Not having a clue about the guy from Ridgeview I would bet he is either 6'5-6'7 and has good feet or runs a low 4.something 40 yd.dash and has a great vertical jump. Those guys fit into the template for all college programs regardless of playing at a 1A-6A highschool. Playing and or dominating at the 6A level just means you are competing against the "best" competition in the state. Not always the case but it is a good barometer usually.

Adkins did have a lot of success at camps over the spring and summer.

He also rushed for over 1,000 yards last season as a freshman.

From what I hear it is VERY hard for someone to grade 2A athletes above a 3* die to competition levels. Graves went in as a 3 last I checked. Im from Appo and I believe thats correct. Shoot, Idk what Javon Scruggs went in as but Ill say he was just as good Graves when it comes to dropping the shoulder laying the Lumber Scruggs was hands down better. Now just strictly CB cover Graves got that on lock. Scruggs was strong safety so he could float the field. Scruggs in my opinion was the best player on both sides of the ball I seen come through Appo in a long time. He's playing for LU now... Getting off subject a little, but in 2015 when it came to the linebacker position Delonta Kelso form Appo was the best LB in the 2A division IMO. Dude was BEAST. You heard almost all his hits from the stands. He went to UVA Wise.

Back in 15 & 16 all 4 Appo RB's won the States in 4x1 relay... 2 years in a row. Not sure of there 40s but all the boys was fast. Buster Henderson was on of them years. Hes at UVA Wise now at LB position.

Henderson has been incredible for the Cavs, their best defensive player.
I wish more kids from the area would consider UVAW, the facilities are very good now and if they can ever get a QB, they could make some noise. Those teams when Hibbard and Robbins were under center slinging the ball were fun as hell.

even now, former Graham star RB Jaymora Cousins is a second team All Conference RB.

UVA offers some recruits from SWVA just to keep them away from VT. There's a player from Blacksburg that actually committed to UVA. I hope he has a change of mind and heart and goes somewhere else.

Where did the QB from Richlands or R.E. Lee go...both were runners and Lefty's...that would be good fits. Appo has a former QB who played with Henderson who should rejoin him.

You'll say the same for Delonta if he hits it in the off season. Natural nose for the ball and smooth as well as a hitter.
