How many visits?

In HS baseball, after how many visits to the mound before you have to change pitchers? It used to be after 2 per inning. Did it change to 3 per game instead?

I believe so. I do know that rule is confusing now. In old days, 2nd trip to mound in an inning, the pitcher got the hook

3 free visits. After that you have to change pitcher with each subsequent visit. If you change pitcher before your third it does not count against you.

They took a good rule, changed it and made it confusing.

Allfordukes....its not actually 3 free visits, they are "charged" but you are right in that they get 3 charged and the 4th the pitcher has to go, and any subsequent timeout the pitcher must be substituted. The only "free" timeout is if the pitcher is changed it does not count toward the 3 charged timeouts.
