How will Dinwiddie be in 2020

@Mic Honcho, the Generals lose several senior roles players plus two fantastic leaders in D'Anta Johnson and Robert Barwell. The cupboard is far from bare and the boys are already back in the "Lab" preparing for 2020.

A majority of Dinwiddie"s skill players return. The Generals started the 2019 season very young and with all of the injuries suffered early Coach Mills was forced to use even younger/less experienced players creating depth with big game experience.

8 of 11 starters on offense and 7 of 11 starters on defense were freshman, sophmores, or juniors.

Defense: Lost both defensive ends, one linebacker and one db. Also lost nickel back.

Offense: Lost center, starting rb and 3rd best receiver.

Special teams: Lost long snapper (punts), long snapper (xp's and fg's), and kick returner.

With a few experienced seniors and super talented underclassmen the 2020 team has the potential to be very good.

Remember these names: Collen Jackson and Zachary Weaver. These two will lead a very capable defense. Jackson DT played well until suffering a season ending thumb injury. Weaver is a very fast and hard hitting lb. Reminds me of a cross between Joseph Tyree and K'Vaughan Pope. If he continues to mature and improve his reads, oh my!

Offensively, Hilton should be much better and will be highly protected by one of the best lines in Class 4. This group of rising juniors and sophmores learned on the fly. They opened up holes allowing the offense to rack up 2,500 rushing yards and 41 rushing td's. The receiving corps will be sound and there will be a huge battle for the number 1 rb spot. King and Brown should be the top two candidates.

This group of youngens got beat up on in 2019 and yet Dinwiddie still advanced to their fourth straight Region title. 4 of the Generals 5 regular season losses came to teams who at least made region finals (Massaponax, North Stafford, Hopewell, and Thomas Dale). Only questionable loss was in overtime to Prince George and they made the very tough Class 5 Region B playoffs.

To say the folks in Navy Nation are optimistic about the next two seasons is a huge understatement. Can't wait to head to GW Danville in August of 2020. Kicking things off against a well respected perreniel Region D contender will quickly let us know whether the Generals are contender's or pretenders.
