Complete, utter demolition! Saw on social media from the LD faithful that they were going to pound us to death and win.
Well, HS pounded them with the run game, then opened the pass game right over their tight safeties and defensive backs.
LD could not move the ball at all. Our defense stuffed their run game and intercepted 2 passes, 1 for a pick 6 the other returned 60 yard to the 5 that lead to another TD! So, they couldn't throw either. HS was clicking on all cylinders offensively and defensively.

Statement win for the Springers!

Well done HSHS! Speed kills especially when you beat a team at their own game. You called it Springer. Have a great weekend pal.

Are those teams actually that far apart? Did LD slip on a few banana peels. From your description it looks like they are that far apart. Just shows you the only thing that matters is what you do against other good teams.

Do you think LD is going to be able to be Henrico, Varina, & Patrick Henry or are we looking at 6-4 finish? I think LD finds a way to win one of those.

I said in another post that if you could shut down their run game and contain the screens, LD would struggle in the passing game. Sounds like the Springers controlled the line.......well and everything else too. Coach Johnson sounded just as intense after the game as during it.

I think 3 of those 4 teams are pretty comparable. We should have beaten PH. They played well against us but we had more stupid penalties, some questionable play calling pinned deep, and poor clock management that cost us a timeout while mounting a comeback.

Turnovers, injuries, and/or execution will likely be the difference in those matchups. I don't think any of the teams is clearly better.

Sounds like HS punched LD in the mouth and LD didn't respond. I think springer76 called his shot on that one.

The only thing I can think of good for Lee Davis would be, the 3rd qtr. They opened with the ball and DID manage tos run the football effectively between our tackles. They ate up about 7 minute on this drive, only to stall aroung the 20 yd line. They turned the ball over on 4th down unable to convert. We took over and drove the distance for a score. That was the whole 3rd qtr.
They got close again in the 4th qtr and still couldn't convert, against our 2nd & 3rd teams and a running clock.

No running clock in the 4th, I don't believe.

It was running late in the 3rd. The rule starts after winning team ia ahead by 35 points or more in the 2nd half.
It was 34-0 @ halftime. LD opened the 3rd wit the 7 minute drive and stall. HS took over and scored before the quarter ended to make it 41-0. At that point, it was a running clock til the end. Only a time out will stop it.

Yeah, I listened to his interview, I was pretty sure the Springers were the losers!!!

I was there. I distinctly remember the clock stopping multiple times in the 4th when there wasn't a timeout. I know the rule, just saying what I saw.

There can be an official timeout or during a penalty. It was a running clock. I am absolutely sure. We were talking about it at half time at 34- 0... Sure enough, it started after we scored again! Absolutely sure.

It was the most sporadic running clock of all-time then, because like you, I was talking about it at halftime!

I think perhaps the clock operator was trying to give L-D more time to squeeze a score in!

Man, I hope that wasn't the case.

Incidentally, Dinwiddie's clock operator is second to none. A former game official, he is a walking encyclopedia of the rules. His eyes stay glued to the field. He sees things happen on the field that two spotters and the statistician sometimes miss. If there is a clock operators hall of fame, he should be in it.

I didn't mean to actually accuse him of that. I just specifically noticed a ton of clock-stoppage in the 4th quarter that shouldn't have occurred.

Yes sir, I wasn't implying anything.

Keeping the clock in a busy, noisy press booth is a challenge. And a lot of these new clocks are wirelessly linked to the scoreboard and it's common for a delay to occur. This isn't a problem, and hardly even noticed, until the time remaining is critical. At that point, everybody is hearing the whistle, watching the white hat, and watching the clock. Only half jokingly I say this..., there have been situations where the fans wanted to drag the clock operator out of the press booth and string him up for .2 seconds!

Glad to hear that LD didn't quit. When you have such high expectations and build up and the game gets away from you that fast, the air can go out of the balloon pretty quickly.
