Im ready for the new region b

Not sure but be careful what you wish for.

Gotta like that confidence!

Of course, in the playoffs this season they also wanted the top NND teams, well....unfortunately, they got bounced in the 1st round at home by the NND's 5th placed team by like 30 points or so...ehhh, almost.

I am sure it will be much better playing against the Red Team....

When do the schedules for next season come out

I am not 100% positive but I am somewhat confident Franklin's regular season schedules will be very similar to what it was this past season and before.

Only change would be Franklin participates in the Region B Tournaments instead of Region A for all sports.

I may be incorrect....

No, you are correct UVACavs. Franklin will only be playing in Region B tournaments/playoffs. They will continue to be members of the Tri-Rivers District as will Surry and Sussex.

The NND will not be competitive for awhile, Rappahanock will dominate the 2 years , then Essex roll again for the next 4 years sorry uvacavs1 your boys were 1 hit wonders man.

The NND has had three or four teams worthy and sometimes in the Va Preps poll (State top ten) for many years now. I doubt that will change.

It is just a matter of which 3. Rapp should be up there next year I agree. I hope so.

As for Northumberland, yes it will be tough to compete with the success of this season (11-2, best or tied best season by far in 50 years).

Besides the loss of their star Palmer, NHS also lost about 17 other seniors, including most of their other all-NND players.

So it will be tough indeed for NHS Coach Lewis (who is still coaching- JV boys basketball, I think they are 4-0).

Must hit the weight room, get the lines rebuilt, continue to develop chemistry with QB1 Adams with some skilled underclassmen. NHS JV football went like 7-1. It will be interesting to see how Coach Lewis can handle the loss of so many good seniors.

Maybe a visit to Riverheads would be in order - to see how it is done - hey, coaches go to Alabama all the time to gain some insight :).

Whats wrong with building on the momentum from this year thats how you remain consistent. You have talent

Don’t not sleep on Northumberland next year. Northumberland has some talent coming next year. Anyone who seen their Jv play this year knows that. They lost one speed freak in Palmer but will get another speedster next year & explosive player A Rising freshman. Hopefully his game can translate to the varsity level next year

Im not worried about Washington lee Loss its a thing of the past i knew we weren't going far without ford he was our best defensive and offensive player he set the edge on. Defense but for the red team to have to play wc altavista franklin Sussex back to back they gonna get beat up we about to bring the pain back to back

As always, no mention of West Point. WP will win Region 1A next year. WP almost won it this year with just their run game. If WP can develop their passing game and their pass pro game, then nobody in NND will challenge them. #44 Porter will only get bigger, stronger, faster. If teams had a problem with him this year, wait until you see what happens next year.

Aint nomore handouts respect is never given its you have to take it no more cake walks and hey you may still win but it wont be a breeze i hope your roster is deep again next year because you are gonna need all 65 players lol its gonna be some hitting

Lol, you always come up with some bull stuff about bringing this or come play here. Let’s be honest here, there wasn’t a team in 1A that could play close 2016. 2017 was not really supposed to happen because of the youth but the D played great down the stretch and was able to get past a very good Essex team. This year was loaded with returning players that had been to the big games and won so they were supposed to at least compete. Next year is a reload year so other than a few spots, we may see some new faces. Will they be strong enough to win when the games count? If I am a betting man, I would say they will at least compete. It is never about one or two players so as long as the coaches put the new players where they can perform, I have no doubt they will be a tough out.

In my humble opinion, unless there is a mass exodus of the coaches or players, somebody from the Tri-Rivers will most likely get as much as the Red team has to offer next year. I guarantee none of these players care where the game is. Armory, Colleseum, gravel lot, or wherever, there will be some fellas in Red ready to play some ball.

your team better start lifting NOW cause come august the red team will be ready to defend there back to back to back title, they will have to rebuild and reload, and CASTO will have them ready in November come playoff time, GO BIG RED

Its gonna be fun for sure, i see the Gladiators magnificent run ending this year, There will be some tough teams waiting to be the one to send the Gladiators packing. I would absolutely be thrilled for it to be my Tigers to do so down in Peanut country.

I can almost guarentee it wont be in peanut country if it happens. You will have to come to Greenville. They will finish 9-1 or 8-2 at the worst and will have beaten a number of 2A teams and now we have 2 3A teams in our district and they will win both of those games so there is no way you can accumulate enough points to host the red team unless they go back to the every other year different region hosts and thats assuming both teams make it to the semis. Still almost a year away so who knows if either team makes it to that semi game.

Not so fast my friend Tri- Rivers as a whole schedules the same 2a and 3a programs. So i look forward to seeing you and the faithful down in Peanut country lol.

New bunch of kids in 2019 , they could go 0--10 . Hope they can a least go 5 - 5 . They will have new teams to play so we will see . Not sure who they will play . Does anyone know ?

To my knowledge Riverheads doesnt even have a 1A school on there schedule next year. All 2A and 3A schools. Dont think yall come close to playing that kind of schedule. Dont think there is another 1A school in the state that will play that kind of schedule.

No disrespect intended Im not concerned about Sussex no matter where the game is if we happen to meet. We have never lost to them even when we had mediocre teams and I remember that Sussex team undefeated Sussex team from a couple of years ago that was suppose to be the best thing since sliced bread and I think the final was 49-6 if my memory serves me correctly. We have a pretty good track record against the Tri-Rivers. Dont think we have ever lost to any Tri-Rivers teams.

I had heard we have a visit to Colonial Beach so that would mean one 1A. 2A Glenvar was the other replacement I had heard. Still missing 1 game last i was aware. To your point right now we have:

1-1A
6-2A
2-3A

That’s a decent opportunity for points but riders will determine seeding as always. It does no good to beat a 2A that doesn’t win but 1 game versus a 1A that wins 7.

As for roughest 1A schedule, Galax and could argue they play a bunch of tough teams. Heck Altavista plays some dang good 2A teams too.

Like Xcross said sarcastically, 6-4 or 7-3 will not be unheard of here. I would expect no less than that but you just never know.

I think a lot of people automatically assume because we lost a lot of seniors were not going to be very good next year. I remember 2012 we lost 22 seniors the whole starting backfield over half the offensive line and most of the defense. The next year we were 1 game away from playing for the 2A state championship. As long as Casto and Norcross are there I would be confident with all freshman playing.

I will make sure this message is posted in the weight room. The difference is the Tri-Rivers dosent fear you as some of the others. Finally you are consistent far as being in 1a. I hear how you bragg about the cupcake 2a and 3a teams you play , we see the cupcake playoff schedule, its all good . Get ready for war of sorts. Dont start setting up the youth excuse when that wood gets layed. See you soon !

I have used no excuses ever on here or elsewhere. Four trips in a row to Salem speaks for itself. If you win next year I will congratulate the Tigers and wish them luck. I will be a smarta$$ and say what others have said, be careful what you wish for. You got it one time and couldn’t handle it at all.

And I go further to will tell you and anyone else that if you need a quote from this board to motivate you, you have already lost. You can write down, take a picture, .....

I think that Riverheads and the NND's Washington and Lee have agreed to play each other next year and I am assuming the year after.

I have heard rumors about next year's schedule just like everyone else has but I intentionally steered away from discussing it because it was not official information. But since others have brought up certain names, I will just add that I also have heard W & L instead of Colonial Beach, and I have heard the Glenvar rumor. I have also heard that we will play a non-district 3-A team from "up north" in addition to at least two 3-A teams in our own district...Fort and Wilson. So as someone said, if we go even as much as 7-3 or 8-2, the points should be there to get us a favorable playoff spot.

Well if its a cup cake schedule to get to the State Championship then that doesnt say much for Chilhowie or Sussex since they both got ran out of the stadium the last 3 years. If you have to get motivated by a va preps post that explains 49-6.

It is great fun to talk smack. However, some people have no idea when it works in your favor and when it will hurt you.

Riverheads will most likely destroy the Tri Rivers teams. Talking shit to the superior team only gets Riverheads fired up - you want them thinking it is not even going to be a contest.

For example, Chilhowie's fans talking about how great they are only motivated Riverheads to believe it may actually be a game. Hence, they came out more motivated than normal.

You got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em...

I stand corrected on the 1A team. It was W&L, I couldn’t find it and wanted to post so bad that I didn’t check first. As for all the talking, I don’t mind at all and actually look forward to a little bs back and forth.

As for next season and who could beat who. Realistically can we all agree that not every team that was successful this year will have success next year. Conversely, not every team that was bad this year will be bad next year.

My opinions for our new region B, I fully expect Sussex to be better than they were this year. I personally would think Franklin will step back just slightly losing such a gifted athlete. They showed in the playoffs how much of their O ran through him. Surry was really down and honestly I can’t speak to whether they have any prospects of getting in the hunt soon. William Campbell loses their WR combination but have a strong young QB that will have even more experience by the time the playoffs roll around. Altavista should be able to build on this year being young with their experience from this year and a tough district schedule. Riverheads will do what they do but with different names. If you can stop it you will win, if not you better score every time you have it.

My take on Region A has more questions than opinions. Will Northumberland be able to sustain their play? Without Palmer most opponents doubt it but other players had to have contributed. Is this the year Rapp breaks out and whips everyone in the east? Some sure do think so. How does Essex adapt to life without Dameron? The coaches adjusted mid-season and kick started their offense this year. Can WP get a few more to come out so they have depth enough to keep their players fresh? Winning brings out the fence riders that are maybes walking the halls. Is Colonial Beach or W&L able to jump over some that finished ahead of them this year? Successful regular seasons at times but need some deep playoff runs. Can Northampton catch lightning in the bottle for more than a half against playoff caliber teams? Listening on the radio, they were fearless and were playing to win the game. Reality check happened and they were not able to swing the mo back to their side.

For the other two regions just go on SWVA boards and you will hear how great they are or will be. I will exclude Galax and GW from that as their fans haven’t talked a bunch of junk. Let’s be honest, even when Blaster was in here singing GW’s song, he was right most of the time.

Anyway, I swear this soapbox keeps getting put back together so I just have to stand on it. All kidding aside, God Bless you, your families and Merry Christmas to you all.

I wouldnt say it was used as motivation as in bulletin board material. But there are a bunch of players and parents across the entire state that read this religiously so I am sure it is talked about like us old guys do on the fence row.

I can tell you as a fan I got tired of hearing how dominate they were this year versus last and that their Defense was lights out and would shut down a running team (ie Riverheads). It’s been said over and over by people quoting Mike Tyson, “everybody has a plan until they get hit in the mouth”.

Talk is just that, talk. Inside those lines is where that talking stops and play dictates who wins. You can’t talk your way into a win no matter how good a salesman you are. Performance will trump talk all day every day.
