Buy a tarp. They work just fine, for about 3 percent the cost. Less maintenance? What about the sweeper, that's about 20 grand. You going to pay the million to put it down, and the million to replace it every eight to 10 years. You are wrong. Maintaining a grass surface does not cost 5 percent of what turf does. Those people that play in the mud are real men, not flower pots.
