The hype comes from their size. Another great example of when size really does matter in society. The Maroons are not a normal sized 1A high school football team, they are huge.

With a starting O and D averaging 6’1 212lbs. most all 1A schools they play are a lot smaller. Considering most of these schools have somewhere closer to 300 students I can see where the opinion that since they are bigger they are better comes from.

Football has a lot more to it than the size of the players on a team. There is heart, there is coaching, there is will and determination, there is the work ethics which are all opinion related categories and then there are the statistics.

The yardage totals of their running backs and wide outs combined are less than almost all other 1A schools’ starting backs and wide outs.

They are overrated maybe a top 20 team in 1A.

Wow, that is a fairly biased observation. I would have to argue that the past three years I have seen them in person that I agree with one part of what you mention. They have tremendous size as for the other parts, I think it is much too early to say they are "maybe a top 20 team in 2A".

Of course you were there and I was not so you certainly have more info than I do. And of course you are also completely entitle to your opinion.

Didn't matter to me who won, but the post at top seemed disrespectful to me. Fort seems like a good program, and wish them the best. My point was if GW IS overrated and only a top 20 1a team, what does that say about the team who beat them by 1

This game could of easily been 14-17-21 to zero. Fort D is very good. Will only get better, 6 new starters and 7th playing a different position. 5 new starters on offense and a sixth playing at a new position. Tiller has done a good job.

You could certainly be right, I dunno and doesn't matter to me, just seems strange a team ranked 1 in preseason is worse than 19 teams

Look at Galax 2015 6-4 regular season and they won it all. I'm not saying this is the same type of beast but they will get better. GW is always sluggish out of the gate always. 2011 was the exception to that. 02 and 12 dropped 1 early and came on so much stronger for it. But we will all see in time what's what. And to your point the west is down I couldn't agree more. Imo I don't see one real TITLE contender in all of C or D at this point including MY MAROONS. That could very well change over the season. But right now but right now it's RH, Sussex, Essex title to lose. It's up to the teams down this way to make it interesting. Cause if someone doesn't wake up on this end of the state then it will be lopsided in Salem.

I looked it up, 8 teams each, region A and D go by power points. ,region B all, region C (4 from mtn empire, 4 from pioneer)then like you said

GW, Galax, Narrows, and PM. will be 1-4 any order C, next week narrows plays giles, we will see what kind of team narrows is. I think the Eastside v PH game is a big one this week for D. this will also be the 4 v 5 match-up come first round of playoffs.
