Yes I know those two have not played again and perhaps never will, but I had to be sneaky and use a headline that I knew would grab your attention. So even though this is a high school board, I just HAD to take the time to give props to that incredible UVa/Wake Forest game last night.
No matter whose side you might have been on (and yes I know that HR 6 will give us his opinion of the Wahoos) you still have to admit that was one of the all-time classic college basketball endings. It wasn't just the buzzer-beater, since we see those all the time. Instead it was the overall theme of the game.......for the Hoos to play so incredibly badly as they surely did for 38 of the 40 minutes, but then still find a way to come back and win it.
You could not have scripted a more improbable ending to a game and there is no way they can claim that they practiced that kind of situation. It just happened because it happened, but it can certainly serve as an example to young players out there that you should never give up, no matter how far out of a game you might appear to be. Therefore the Galax reference is a valid one, since I still remember how amazed I was that afternoon in Richmond when they somehow pulled that one out under similar circumstances to last night's game.
My advice to the Cavs.......you might want to consider playing a FIRST half once in a while, and then you won't have to dig yourself out of these kinds of holes.......just saying!!!
