Could JMU be the best team in the State of Virginia this year legit? And could they be ranked in the top 25 FBS at the end of the year?

Best team in the State of Virginia yes. Top 25???? They would have to run the table and a November 5th date with Louisville may be a tough go this year. Also I would think Coastal Carolina would have to lose as well. They are a very talented squad with some homegrown talent. Both JMU and Liberty are playing well. I understand the VA Tech rebuild, but UVA is very underwhelming.

I’d say Liberty is the best team in the state. Was at the Wake game in person and they should have won that game. Freeze tried a Philly Special to win the game and it was probably the most poorly executed college play I’ve ever seen in crunch time. I’d love to see Liberty/JMU play for the 2022 “Commonwealth Cup”. Tech may be in trouble when they come to Lynchburg in a few weeks.

Been a Hokie fan since 1970 and I have seen some hard times, but the decline is hard on the heart. Losing the recruiting edge in VA continues to haunt VA Tech. JMU recruits VA well and snags transfers in the portal as good as anybody. JMU is becoming a force in a lot of sports both men and women. Go Dukes! Hokies get well soon please.....

Navy, I’m very happy to see you back on here and pray all is well on your end. Your Hokies will be fine. Fuente ran a lot of very good players away and Pry and company will have to continue to recruit the state hard and gain depth. Tech was always known for having playmaking dual threats at QB, a very good running back room, a mix of speed and possession receivers, good offensive lines and most importantly very very nasty front 7s and arguably the best secondary & special teams in CFB year in and year out. They’ve gotten away from that. I’ve met Pry a few times as he came to my old school to recruit a few of my kids. He’s selling the vision, however, as you stated, JMU and even ODU have been cleaning up the better 804, 757 and NoVA kids, whereas Liberty has gotten some really good kids from the portal. Tech is still Tech but it’s going to take some time for that staff to win the state over again.

Thank you sir. I stepped away from HS football and Preps for a while. So many other things have become so much more important. My parents are not doing well at all and just this past weekend I watched in horror as Hurricane Ian wreaked havoc on my sister's town (Cape Coral). She survived, but her house took a beating. I have missed reading/posting, but needed to step away. It's so easy to forget it's just a game and often fail to respect one another. I played a part in some of the silliness/cruelty and truly regret it. Whether you liked his takes or not Hoos was a sound contributor to this site. When I found out he had passed it bothered me a lot. I honestly hope Louisa goes far for him. I may not post often, but when I do it's going to be positive. Hope all is well with you and your family. God bless.

We all played a part in the silliness the past few years. It's a by-product of being stuck at home and not getting to see the game we love and the friends we've made. Glad you're back on, GOOOOOOOOOO DUKES!!!!!

We often take life as we know it for granted. When I say that I point to myself. Life’s so precious and we often get caught up in our own pride and ego and forget the ones who really matter. I also point to myself. We’ve all had some pointless spats on here and I’ve played my part and I’m not proud of it.

Glad to have you back, in good health, and hope to see you later this fall when I come back to VA to watch your Generals play Varina.

Hoos Fan was a really good dude. Very misunderstood at times. Got a chance to hang with him a lot over the past 2 years and he would give the shirt off of his back to anyone. I moved away in June and shared a beer with him in May. From my understanding, he became very sick not long afterwards. You just never ever know.

Praying for your family BN.

I played my part in several spats over the years, and they were basically over nothing. Something trivial to start out with, with lots of misunderstanding and miscommunication thrown in, that gradually blew up into a huge mess.

Last year about this time, a close friend of mine died suddenly and unexpectedly from an AAA. He gave me the camera that I use to this day. We messaged everyday, mostly about those Spartans, but also about photography, family, and life. Over the last year I've missed getting those messages asking about how the team looks, and when some big news happens I have to remind myself that George isn't there to hear about it.

Life is just way too short to sweat the little things. I didn't realize Lamar was so sick. He was too young to die, but tomorrow is promised to no one. Live life to the fullest, pursue your dreams, and tell those you care about that you love them.

I certainly played a part in some of the discord as well. For that, I sincerely apologize to all that I offended. I wish Lamar was here so that I could tell him personally. I enjoyed his company the once or twice we all met up at a game. And I enjoyed meeting your dad a few times over the years. I hope he is doing ok? Once again, please tell him that I said thank you for his service to our country.

In hindsight, Coach Beamer should have stepped down “unexpectedly”, and a couple of years earlier. I honestly believe that VT recruiting suffered tremendously because top prospects and their parents knew that after Coach Beamer left, there would be several years of mediocrity. I think three, four, and five star kids were reluctant to “waste” their playing years on a team that they knew was re-inventing itself.

But let me say this, Coach Beamer is a first class person and he damn sure earned the right to go out any way he chose.

I appreciate you brother. Life is too short to hold grudges and I apologize to you and @BleedingNavy for being bitter and holding grudges over nothing. I said and insinuated some outlandish statements regarding your character on these boards and I was totally wrong. You both are good men in my book and I appreciate you both.

Dad is good, I appreciate you asking. We’ve relocated to NC as I got a greater opportunity within the school system to build the resume. I almost certainly will be back in Northern VA in the next few years for good. Hope to see you fellas come playoff time. Plan to be at the Dinwiddie/Varina game if my school isn’t playing that night.

I think King George has a good shot of being in that Reg B final.
