John Marshallā€™s Schedule

John Marshall has had this annoying announcer for years šŸ¤£šŸ¤£. He tries to make the game more about him than the players. If I watch on NFHS and he's there, I turn the volume down now šŸ¤£
It was a complete joke. Heā€™s making hokie pokie references when these teams are trying to lock in to finish this game out strong. This isnā€™t Rucker Parkā€¦having that kind of commentary was annoying

Wow John Marshall wins on a 3 pointer by Allmond with 2 seconds to go. Refs were home cooking at the end. Woodside to even be in this game without Wells-Stevens playing is crazy. Nobody is beating Woodside the rest of the way.
757 basketball is just better than the 804 right now. I was told Woodside was without 3 key guys and the refs were insanely bad. 75 got at least 8 programs that could win it all, the 804 has 5 (Varina, Hopewell, JM and Monacan). Hopewell and JM are the only two that could beat the 757ā€™s best if you ask me.

I saw on Facebook earlier that next year JM will have the younger brother of Armando Bacot playing with them. King Bacot is currently the #1 ranked player in the class of 2029 and is already 6'3. He looks extremely impressive on film and he already has four D1 offers

In the 757, Iā€™ll go Oscar Smith in C6, Woodside, Green Run, and Maury (Kingā€™s Fork too but they gotta not choke when it matters) in C5, Denbigh, Hampton and Churchland in C4 and Lake Taylor in C3.

Iā€™ll throw in Bird for us in C5.

King is a beast and will be the next Frank Mason level guard in the 804. I like the kid that played with him at Manchester Middle, Jamell Smith, whoā€™s playing Varsity at Cristo Rey as an 8th grader. Big time player. I see him transferring (doubt he goes to John Marshall) and being big time too.

The usual suspects except Denbigh. Glad to see the Pats getting it together (at least this year). Their athletics have been a wasteland for awhile. No Norcom, no BTW, no Phoebus???

Denbigh lost last night to Woodside by 2. They play good team ball and scrappy. Beat Hampton. Theyā€™re legit. I still got Churchland winning C4 over Varina.

No Booker T or Norcom. Their region is insane. Lake Taylor, New Kent (undefeated) and Hopewell. Thatā€™s tough.

Just knew heā€™d be at IMG. Glad heā€™s playing for his hometown.

Whatā€™s crazy is heā€™s a Varina kid. Armando was actually talking about coming home and playing for Varina but he ultimately stayed at Trinity and then went to IMG. Their sister played at Highland Springs. Iā€™m telling you, that East End talent is insane.

Long Island Lutheran Crusaders 66
Final - OT
John Marshall Justices
63

In front of a sold-out crowd at Barco-Stevens Hall, with Carmelo Anthony in the house, Long Island Lutheran defeated nationally ranked John Marshall in overtime 66-63!
Melo's son Kiyan had 15 points in the win.

Yeah kids transferring in to JM only get the advantage of. 2A ring, not like they get to play teams from all over the country and Melo was in the crowd. What a ludicrous statement.

I donā€™t see anyone coming within 30 in the tourney. RIP to that community and family.
Itā€™ll be hard to beat them but I truly believe if adults stopped giving kids the mental out and actually played them, scores would look a lot different. Canā€™t tell me some of those Martinsville, Brunswick, Dan River, Gate City, Lee Staunton or Radford teams of the past would get blown out by John Marshall. Just a few examples. I say it and I say it 1000x more, the ā€œsmall schoolsā€ can play some basketball too.

That 2014 Dan River team and the Martinsville 2016 team would beat the JM teams of the past 3 years in my opinion. Dogs 2016 team would have given in Classification problems that year.

Dan River and Martinsville had a couple of teams that beat the big boys in the 2000s/2010s. Dan Riverā€™s 2009 team beat GW who was the #1 team in all of Virginia. That 2005 Martinsville team who didnā€™t even win the state championship wouldā€™ve given JM that work!

I agree. 99% of 2A teams lost against JM before the ball was tipped, just totally intimidated by their presence and gave up. The 2017 GC squad with Mac woulda been very competitive against a couple of the JM teams and youā€™re absolutely right that a couple Dan River and Mahavi teams would be fully competitive.

The depth is the biggest hurdle of the on court matchup. Most 2A teams have 2-3 very good starters and if theyā€™re lucky 3-4 other kids who are competitive and can fill needed roles. JM just has insane depth for the 2A level. They have 2-3 kids whoā€™d be by far the top option at any other 2A school plus Henderson. Didnā€™t he win POY in 1A last year at Lancaster?

And that Dan River team lost to Madison County in the Region championship before avenging that loss in the state semis and I believe lost to Radford in the finals.

Madison County had a squad too. I forgot to add you guys. Yā€™all had a very nice run and even now, yall have a great program. During that time period, Madison, Nelson and Altavista were all elite in the smaller classification.

I remember the 08-09 Dan River team well. Lost in an epic game 97-92 my senior year. Being on the court watching Witcher and white go at it was fun. Of course Darren got the best of us. Still peeved that we would have made regions in this format. Haha. Go Cavs
my Soph year we played Thomas Brown at Nelson, dude was shooting as he crossed half court. Some great talents those years.

You played at Chatham bro?

Solomon Witcher was so tough. Chatham had so many good teams, just couldnā€™t get over the hump. I remember back in 07 when GW was on the national stage (ranked; competed really well with Oak Hill led by Brandon Jennings), Chatham had their number but just kind of fed into the hype. Donā€™t remember what year Trevor, Duke, Jeff, and Theo graduated (I know Trevor was younger than them) but that was an insane team.

Yep! That 07 was just weird. Had the talent, but went through some coaching/player changes during the year. Lost to Randolph-Henry that year in region play. 08 lost to a good Altavista in the district semifinals, then SR year we lose at Appo by 4pts in the semifinals again. I think we went 9-3 in the Dogwood that year. Played GW with Barksdale and company 2x. First game we led like 17-16 after the 1st. Proceeded to lose by nearly 50. Lol. Was some good times. The Dan River, Appo, and Altavista games were some real battles that year.

Word bro! I went to Tunstall and yā€™all killed us šŸ¤£ everybody in Pittsylvania County was good then. Chathamā€™s 05 football team is still the best football Iā€™ve ever seen in our area to not win a state championship. That team was insane!
