KG 21 Louisa 7 half

King George is loaded, they have size and skill at every position. They have been trending upward over the last few years, and Louisa has been trending downward, so this is the result. Also, Louisa's capricious play calling strikes again in the playoffs, as usual.

Not to take anything away from KG but how many passes has Louisa dropped tonight?

Being that this was the only game on, I caught it. No pun intended... but yes Louisa dropped one WIDE OPEN TD in the first half. Several other crucial elementary drops. KG is athletic, hard nosed and well balanced. If Louisa doesn’t fall behind it would have been interesting. Louisa moved the ball well, KG just did a better job of finishing. Another thing that hurts Louisa was they had a couple of gadget plays where it was there... (HB passes / double passes etc) but the receiver and TB just made a bad throw. Likely why they don’t play QB.

It will take a hell of an effort to beat KG. Their wideout and TB are very hard to tackle and their QB is shifty and throws a good ball and gets rid of it quick. To me, their greatest strength is they are very well balanced on offense with run/pass. Louisa showed a lot of heart fighting to the end though. As far as the play calling, it didn’t jump out at me either way but I won’t argue with Louisa fans considering I am by no means an expert after seeing one game this year. What I will say is, when you run that offense, you generally have to be better and more physical than the other team to pull it off or it becomes tough. Louisa has a very good program and will be challenging for regional titles for a good while.

King George - Big win, impressive win, and congrats to the foxes

Is Louisa trending downward?

Is Louisa trending downward?
i would say no... Are they down from their historically good last 3-4 years, yes. But that is just a natural blip on the radar screen. To their fans, yes it is trending down but in my opinion it is just a microfluctaiton. Similar to the stock market, you can't be at a record high every year. They are still a good buy in my opinion. But again, I won't ever tell fans of a team who live and breath it how to feel. IMO, the health of the overall program is still very strong. If this is them trending down and at the bottom of their wave (a regional semi-final appearance) I'd say all is well. I don't think pre-season even Louisa fans would have said... "This is our year". I understand the frustration for Louisa fans though being so close the last couple of years. They are on the precipice of a real breakthrough but keep just barely missing. A lot of teams fit that bill. Never forget, winning a state championship is hard. You need the universe to be on your side sometimes.

Same thing for Dinwiddie this year. A 4-2 finish in a loaded central district with an underclassmen roster. Let's not all shed a whole bunch of tears. These programs will continue to be formidable for years to come and be front-runners this fall.

I think another issue is Louisa is rarely ever tested in the regular season especially this year with only 6 games. Last year they played Ponax so going into 2021/22 they need to add some tests to their regular season schedule to prepare them for playoff football.

It is more of KG is really good this year. They are absolutely in play for a title and it will take a whale of an effort to beat them regardless of their opponent. Class 4 at the top can compete with class 5 top and class 6. One exception ... Oscar Smith is a cut above the rest. They have only allowed 6 points all season.
