The color and pageantry of high school cross country were on full display Saturday at Green Hill Park in Roanoke County, as teams from eighty-four schools convened for the Knights Crossing Invitational. There were schools from North Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia, as well as from all six classifications in Virginia. A number of Virginia teams and runners did very well. I was there for a good part of the action, although I missed the two featured races. It was quite the scene, and thousands of spectators turned out. Green Hill Park, incidentally, will be the site of the state meet for Classes 1, 2, and 3 in November.
