We pick this one up with about five minutes to go in regulation, Lake Braddock leading 24-17. A punt by Bruins QB Edwards pins MV inside their 10-yard like. On third and 7 MV QB Webb throws an incompletion--close to grounding IMO--but Lake Braddock is called for roughing the passer and the Majors get some breathing room. MV slowly works the ball down the field, using their last timeout with 4 seconds left and the ball on the Bruins 4. Webb's pass is out of the reach of his receiver. The clock shows zero, and some LB players celebrate, but there's a flag against the Bruins. MV gets an untimed down from the 2. Direct snap to Reid who takes it around the right side. An LB defender meets him at the goal line. This time the Bruins sideline runs on the field in celebration. The refs signal a touchdown. MV decides to kick the extra point and we go to overtime.
LB gets the ball first and Edwards runs it on their first play--ball comes loose but he was already in the end zone. Two short runs and a false start leave MV facing third down from the 13. Webb rolls left and with nowhere to run and nobody open, tries to force a pass towards the corner of the end zone and it's intercepted. For the third time the Bruins celebrate and this time it's for real.
MV was up 17-3 in the middle of the second quarter, dominating the game and driving in LB territory once more, when they threw an interception and went into self-destruct mode until LB had taken that 24-17 lead with a long run on their first possession of the second half.
It never gets less annoying when fans go postal because they don't know the high school rules.
