Loudoun Valley the team to beat in 3A again?

They are 4-0 to start the season with 3 shutouts and last week was #10 in the Metro. Their top two pitchers are going D1 (Liberty and Yale). Who is their biggest 3A competition?

They should make a strong run to get back to Liberty in June. Those two pitchers are both Jr.'s. Justin Ager (Yale) and Trey McDyre. From what I've seen other teams off to good start's are Tunstall 7-1, Rustburg 7-1, Colonial Heights 8-0, Tuner Ashby 6-0, Western Albemarle 7-0, Staunton River 6-0, Blacksburg 6-1, Kettle Run 6-1, Culpeper and Warhill are 4-1, Albington 5-1, William Monroe 5-2, Fort Defiance 5-2, William Byrd 6-2,York 5-2 Brookville 6-2. These records are what I have seen recently and are not 100% accurate but are pretty close. And speaking
of Loudoun Valley they are now playing on their new ball field at the school. It sets right behind the home side bleachers of the football field. Down the lines it goes 300 feet. Also the outfield fence all the way around is high. It must be about 15 feet high. So you won't see any line drive home runs there. They have a small set of bleachers on each side of the press box. Also Western Albemarle head coach Skip Hudgins won his 400th career game back on March 25 when they beat Eastern View 11-3. He started there in 1983. On Saturday April 11 Loudoun Valley's Justin Ager threw a CG no-hitter with 9K's in a 7-0 win over Broad Run. Valley is now 6-0. Last night Valley beat T.C. Williams 6-0. That's now five straight shut outs for them. They have out scored their opponents 46-2.

Top 4A Teams edited standings 4-17

With the season now going into it's fifth week here are some of the teams off to good starts Millbrook 8-0, Their top pitchers are Alex Amos 11 IP 0.00 ERA, Trey Braithwaite 15 IP 0.47 ERA and Colin Benner 11 IP 0.64 ERA. Fauquier 7-1, Sr. pitcher Ryan Simpson 3-0, 0.39 ERA and 24K's. Amherst Co. 6-1,Courtland 4-2, Glen Allen 7-1 Hanover 5-2, Jr. Gray Lyttle pitched a no-hitter when they beat Atlee back on March 31, E.C. Glass 5-2 Churchland 5-2 Jamestown 4-2 and Nansemond River 7-3.

Colonial Heights 20-0 won at home over Lafayette 3-2 in the Conf. 25 championship game: Monday 6-1 at home vs. Thomas Jefferson a 3A East Regional game. starting at 6. ****In the 3A East bracket setup Colonial Heights and Loudoun Valley would play in a semifinal match up. If they of course win their quarterfinal games. Wow that would be a 21-0 vs. a 21-2 match up.
Western Albemarle 19-5 lost at William Byrd 7-4 in a 3A West Regional first round game. WA season ends.
Loudoun Valley 20-2 won at home over John Champe in The Conf. 28 Championship. Hunter Gore in 1st 3 run HR; WP Justin Ager 1 hitter. next game: Monday at home vs. Culpeper at 6:00. 3A East Regional.
Turner Ashby 21-2 won at home over Alleghany 5-1 in a 3A West Regional first round game 5-30.next game: Monday 6-1 at Staunton River a 3A West Regional Quarterfinal at 7:00.
Staunton River 20-2 won at home over William Byrd 7-0 in the Conf. 31 Championship game
next game: Monday at home vs. Turner Ashby a 3A West Regional at 7:00. 21-2 vs. 20-2. Wow I thought a good final four semifinals would be Colonials Heights, Loudoun Valley, Turner Ashby and Staunton River. But the way its set up only two of those four can make it to Lynchburg.
Blacksburg 11-7 lost at Hidden Valley 2-0 in a Conf. 32 semifinal.
Kettle Run 16-3 won at home in the Conf. 27 Championship over Culpeper 3-0. Both advance to the 3A East Regionals.
Abington 17-7 lost in a Conf. 32 semifinal at Christiansburg 4-3 on Wednesday. Their season ends.
Culpeper 11-5 lost in the Conf. 27 Championship game to Kettle Run 3-0. next 3A East Regionals.
William Monroe 16-7-1 lost at Loudoun Valley 2-1
Spotswood 15-8 lost to Western Albemarle 6-3 in the Conf. 29 3rd place game. Spotswood season ends.
Christiansburg 12-5 won 11-7 over Hidden Valley in the Conf. 32 Championship. next game: Monday at home vs. Tunstall. HV will travel to Rustburg.
William Byrd 18-6 lost to Staunton River 7-0 in the Conf. 31 Championship game.
Monticello 15-7 beat Turner Ashby 3-1 in the Conf. 29 Championship. next game: 3A West regionals
