Player of the Year: Hannah Young
SCHOOL: Brookville

YEAR: Senior

POSITION: Outside hitter

ALL-STAR STUFF: Hannah Young’s first sport isn’t volleyball, but that didn’t stop her from putting up some of the most impressive numbers in the area. Young, who was asked to move to ou tside hitter from middle hitter this season after the Bees lost a number of seniors in 2016, didn’t hesitate to answer the call. With 374 total kills this season, Young became the leading single-season scorer in coach Ashley Wilson’s 10-year tenure at BHS. And she converted 36 percent of her attack attempts — 1,034, which is the seventh-highest single-season attack attempts number in VHSL history — for kills. She finished in double figures in kills in 22 of 24 matches. Young also tallied 16 double-doubles this season, including the Bees’ final eight games. The four-year varsity starter and Kent State basketball commit has picked up four all-Seminole District honors, as well as two all-region accolades in her career. Young was named a second-team all-Class 3 state member after leading the Bees to the first round of the Region 3C tournament this year.
