I was reading in the Richmond paper today that the Maggie Walker Governors School won Boys and Girls Cross Country state titles for 5 years in a row (BOTH boys and girls).
The article praises how they are near to breaking all these VHSL records? How do they even get a chance to compete in 2A VHSL sports?
It is not a normal public school correct? They accept only top dedicated students from all over a region correct? Only hard working smart kids can go there, right (many with some athletic skills evidently)? Probably 90% have almost 4.0 GPA. Must be a joy to coach and easy to discipline....
MWGS dominates in boys and girls soccer, cross country, field hockey, tennis, indoor and outdoor track, and other prep school sports. They win the coveted Wells Fargo Sports Cup (for the best VHSL school) often it seems...
I don't follow 2A too closely unless it impacts my favorite schools but is this fair? I really am starting to wonder sometimes who makes the decisions for the VHSL? They must work on a volunteer basis.....
