I've been following these boards for the past couple years and figured I would finally post a comment or two. I was at the SR v WA game this past Friday, and let me just tell you: Do Not Overlook Staunton River. Their lead running back (Overstreet #24) is a man-child that not only has size but can also surprise you with his speed. He is just a sophomore, which gives SR quite a bit to look forward to over the next couple years. I have seen SR play twice this year, and I gotta say I love that smash-mouth football, but I also have seen Magna Vista, and I feel MV will be too much for SR in the end. The caliber of overall athleticism for MV will be the difference in the game, and while it may take a bit for the "Blue Funk" defense to adjust to something they've not seen all year, they do a great job of making adjustments throughout the game and will find a way to make stops.
I can tell you this much, SR is a confident team from what I saw Friday night in Crozet. One thing they will need to remember though is Magna Vista is not the soft defense that Western Albemarle put on the field last week. Too bad this game isn't on Saturday, or I would be making a trip back to "The Hole" again for this one!
