I met Kirk Rohle a couple of years ago. Kirk is a representative with Dominion, Virginia Power these days. Very shortly after we met on a job site for the first time, we both recognized a mutual love of high school football.

Since Kirk played at Hanover, we shared a special interest in the 4a east football. Needless to say, we spent a lot of time talking football, at the cost of getting any real work done.

I eventually learned that he had a stellar football career at Hampton Sydney. But he never mention the rest of his story. That tells you everything about this young man. A humble hero that put his safety aside and saved a life.

Great story, DP. Thanks for posting. His courage and perseverance in coming back from such severe injuries might reveal even more about Rohle's character than did his initial act of selflessness.

Thanks for the story DP!! That young man appears to have great character which will carry him far in life. Could be wrong about this but, I believe his friend Ben Rogers is the older brother of VT fullback Sam Rogers.
