Despite the dire forecasts all across the region, the weather gods smiled on Greenville again tonight, allowing the Gladiators and Mustangs to get their game played. The visitors opened the scoring with a two-run homer in the top of the second. (Sorry didn't catch who hit it.)

The Gladiators then scratched for single runs in the third and sixth, before Mason pushed across the game-winner in the top of the 7th. They will now host the winner of the Nottoway/Maggie Walker game.

Both pitchers (Evan Davis and Colt Miller) went the distance and were effective for the most part. I think the hit totals were 8 for RHS and 7 for George Mason. Each team left more batters stranded than they might have cared to, as each one had an inning where they left the sacks full.

Just an overall well-played game between two evenly-matched teams. You kind of had the idea that they could play each other 10 times and each one would be about this close.

An announcement was made at our game that the Wilson at Strasburg game was postponed until tomorrow night. We can only assume that was weather-related, meaning those showers and thunderstorms are indeed "scattered."

Congrats to the Big Red on a fine 16-6 season and best wishes to the Mustangs the rest of the way.
