The kid ran for just about 3000 yards, had 49 TD's last year and was the Virginia Gatorade player of the year. Apparently, a great many teams had trouble containing him. But Bird did hold him in the 2nd half of the Championship game after his 109 in the 1st. Just 130 yards. His lowest total of the year. Doesn't make them any less State Championship caliber, especially when Ponax didn't have their best weapon in Joey Bendon, the starting QB. When the offense doesn't move well, the opposition gets extra opportunities. But you already know that too. Sorry, still State Champion caliber team. But if your measure is " did they close the deal"? Then that's your measure.
By the way, read the write up on LT's game yesterday. Congratulations. Hell of a game and a real statement on how much talent is there and how the Coach's had them ready. Sure, there are things Coachs want to clean up. Perfection should be the standard. But no where near most of the sloppy play seen by most teams this opening weekend. Well done.
