Massaponax 15 Courtland 14 with controversial ending

He consistently brings Mass up like they are world beaters. He loves to bring them up I remember at one point they would have beat us last year because they are so physical and run this insane no huddle option offense that no one can stop
Again, I do appreciate good sarcasm. I did say LT would have had trouble with them last year and I still believe that. They were a State Championship caliber team. I don't know if this one is yet. The film hasn't been posted. I don't measure things the way most others do. I have no prejudice even when commenting on my own Cougars. He mentioned GW and JF as teams that could beat them. Sorry, they're not State Champion quality. Neither of these squads has a defense. They just try to out score you and neither plays a bunch of high quality teams. If you can't play defense, you can't beat Ponax. It just is what it is. IMO.

It's funny because on Thursday I barely saw any hurry-up offense from Ponax until the 4th quarter. Monticello and Albemarle of the last couple of years are more uptempo.

State championship caliber teams don't let a back come in and rush 28 times for 307 yards and 4 td's. If Reimers did that IMAGINE what LC Bird would have done as a team. Might have been some type of record or something.

The kid ran for just about 3000 yards, had 49 TD's last year and was the Virginia Gatorade player of the year. Apparently, a great many teams had trouble containing him. But Bird did hold him in the 2nd half of the Championship game after his 109 in the 1st. Just 130 yards. His lowest total of the year. Doesn't make them any less State Championship caliber, especially when Ponax didn't have their best weapon in Joey Bendon, the starting QB. When the offense doesn't move well, the opposition gets extra opportunities. But you already know that too. Sorry, still State Champion caliber team. But if your measure is " did they close the deal"? Then that's your measure.

By the way, read the write up on LT's game yesterday. Congratulations. Hell of a game and a real statement on how much talent is there and how the Coach's had them ready. Sure, there are things Coachs want to clean up. Perfection should be the standard. But no where near most of the sloppy play seen by most teams this opening weekend. Well done.

Does lake Taylor play l.c. bird this year?

Unfortunately no we both wanted to play each other but the powers that be wanted Bird and Meadowbrook to play. They beat us 21-14 in 2013 we won 29-22 last year so we are all even 43-43 really wanted break that tie. I think it would've been a hell of a battle.

Thanks. We had over 100 yards in penalties that is unacceptable we have to clean that up. We missed some assignments but overall a solid C for first game.
