When a team goes undefeated in three consecutive regular seasons, it's more than just a string of good luck. The leadership of the coaching staff has trickled down to the players. The players have become leaders themselves and have taught the younger players the fine nuisances that separate from the men among boys so to speak.

That team has learned to play as just that; a unit with a common goal. At times there are players that may not be recognized as much as they should be because they have done what we are taught to do and that is put the group ahead of themselves.

While it may be a bit naive to say that rising senior Trajan Anderson has gone under the radar, it is possible to think that he hasn't necessarily gotten the attention he deserves. The 6-foot-2, 225 pounder was a leader of a ferocious Panthers defense that allowed just over 10 points per game in 2015 and their lowest total against in the three unscathed regular seasons.

Last year, Anderson was the Conference 15 Defensive Player of the year and was first team 5A North All-Region and was on the 5A second team All-State squad.

Anderson has visited Old Dominion and Wake Forest most recently and is garnering attention from other schools such as Richmond and Liberty among others.

"ODU was interesting," Anderson said. "I took a tour with some of the other players and attended position meetings and got to see what they are looking for in linebackers. It was a really nice place."

Anderson says he has also talked to schools such as Appalachian state, Temple, North Carolina State, and Virginia but everything is still up in the air. Still awaiting his first offer, Anderson says the main thing he wants is to find a school where he can compete a a high level.

The Class of 2017 prospect says he has been invited to several junior days and has an upcoming Nike combine to attend. He's not setting the bar low either stating "my expectation when I attend is to dominate."

With one more year at the high school level, Anderson says another season ending in a loss prior to the state championship is simply motivation for the team to work harder than ever before.

"We don't dwell on the past but we are using it as motivation to get better," he said. "Ever since the season ended we have been in the weight room and working to get better."

Anderson describes himself as a leader by example and feels that his ability to read the opposing offense is being "light on his feet" are two things that can give him and edge and things that he continues to try to improve upon on a daily basis.
