Narrows Green Wave!

Still might be good enough to beat Giles.
Believe it when I see it. Been hearing that for 4 years. 3 of the weakest teams Giles has fielded in the last 30 years against the 3 best teams Narrows has fielded in the last 30 years, and the greenwave hasn't scored a offensive TD in the last 11 quarters.

What do you guys want from Narrows?? Narrows has been whipping up on everyone in 1C except Galax the last 3 years, and it took a last second TD for Galax to get them 2 years ago. You people act like they should be playing 2A and 3A schools. They have beat two good football teams in Auburn and chilhowie. Auburn just whipped 2A floyd and chilhowie is a region D power. After they beat 2A giles tonight I cant wait to see what you got to say then.

I think if you read closely, you just answered your own question. Other than Galax, 1A, region C, is pitiful

2A Floyd is not a good team this year and Chilhowie is not as good this year due to graduation, not saying they are bad but just not nearly what they've been for the last two years.

GW prob not to bad this year, haven't seen them or Narrows play so i don't know who would be better. I would probably say Narrows is the better team now but we will be able to tell more later in the year.

I'm not 100 percent certain, but I don't think over this 3 year period of time, the Narrows poster talks about them crushing everybody from region C except Galax, Narrows has had to play GW.

27 out 30 picked Narrows to beat Giles in the week 4 pick em. So I believe it's safe to say that you have people's respect. From the schedule that's left after tonight if they beat Giles they will be 10 - 0 going into playoffs. George Wythe and Galax will be competition for Region Championship.

This is sadly so true. But to all the teams that strap on those helmets every week and don't make the playoffs, I want to say thank you. Not all heroes wear capes; some wear shoulder pads.

You're right brother. I think the world of those boys from Craig, and a few other places, that put in the work and effort, knowing they likely won't win a game.

That's the biggest difference in 2A vs. 1A depth... first couple rounds are non competitive. 2A you get some very capable and legit #5-6-7-8 seeds in region.

I don't have much doubt that the finalists in 1A would be very competitive vs. the 2A finalists year in and year out.

We're one of the top 3 teams on this end of the state. But we're not GW of years past we can compete with everyone we play this year. And will more than likely beat all the 1A teams we play with the exception being Galax. I'd say it's GW vs Galax for the region C title unless GW gets Galax in one of the opening rounds. And I don't care what anyone says if Galax stays healthy and can avoid dumb mistakes they will be playing in Salem. GW is the closest thing to a challenge that region C has and imo Galax hangs 40+ on us without much trouble. And region D doesn't have a single team that can legitimately test Galax. Yeah PH is good for a PH team but they won't compete. Chilhowie isn't what they were last year, Holston will win until they play a half decent team. Same thing applys for Grundy. To make a long rant short this side of the state currently belongs to Galax the rest of us a playing for second.

I haven’t seen narrows play but have the gw team. You definitely can’t count them out this year. I’m not saying they would beat galax or narrows but if the can stay healthy they’re gonna put up some points on some good teams. The qb for the last two years is probably better than the last one. He’s got a good arm, quick on his feet and seems to always try to pick up that extra yard or two. Rb is as good if not better than most around the west side. And in my humble opinion they have one of the best kickers in this area as far as 1a is concerned. Kid can put em in from around 40 all night long but doesn’t have to do to such an explosive offense.Gw has the potential to score on the next play so it’s hard to defend them.
If they can catch galax on a bad night anything could happen. If galax is playing their best nobody out this way has a chance. But I guess that’s why we have to play the game right?

Galax gets an A+ grade for sure. I do think PH would give anyone in Region C a tough game, including Galax. If they can keep the ball away from them, they would have a chance. PH has some kids in the secondary that could keep them in the game. It would just depend if they could cover and keep Brown in the box. I think that the Blaster isn't giving them any credit. I do think that the GW/Auburn game will be close. Narrows is big, strong, and disciplined on the d-line. Just now sure about the back half, when it comes to playing the receivers from Galax. If Galax is allowed to run RPO and play action with linemen 8-10 yards downfield every play. It will be impossible for anyone to stay in the game.

I give PH tons of credit I just don't think they are in the same league as Galax. I don't think anyone in 1A west is including GW. PH has a damn good team but they remind me of Hurley from a few years ago. Really good to them and their specific area but not a top team by other teams standards. Again I'm not downing them hell they may go 14-0 and win it all. But my guess is they will get beat by the 1st legit team from C they play. And I agree GW vs Auburn will be a lot closer than many think. I think it will be high scoring but close.

To be honest I am surprised that people aren't talking about Galax more than they are. They are scary good this year. The guy I talked with at work from whose kid plays on the team said they have had 2 starters out for each game so far this year.

I went on YouTube and watched their past 3 games.and you are correct they get at least two penalties for lineman down field every game. It's just the way that offense works, the line does not know which play it will be and they get the flag.
What impressed me is not only are they throwing as good or better than last year, their line is blowing people off the ball and can run at will. When you are throwing as much as they are and still have a back that is getting 100 plus yards a game, thats impressive.
If their QB has a good game they are as good as anyone in the state. He has periods as to where he is lighting it up, then he struggles. No ryhym or reason.
To be perfectly honest though besides Glenvar Galax hasn't played anyone else. But all those games was over within the first Quarter.

I have seen Narrows against us in a scrimmage and against chilhowie. Seen Galax at Glanvar and on film and will watch GW at Auburn tonight and will have a better grasp of where each team is.

Going on what people said about watching GW and Auburn last night I will have to retract my statement that I thought Narrows was probably better than GW. Narrows is still a very good team this year but they might be a little out classed by a couple of other teams in region C. From my understanding GW has a heck of a QB this year and if you want to beat them you will have to figure out a way to contain him. Region C could get interesting this year with Galax, GW and Narrows being the top dogs.

Gw qb is gonna be the difference maker for them. Like I stated earlier he’s better than the last qb imo. And the last one set the bar pretty high statistically. I think going into last night he was somewhere around 800 yards so far on the season.
I think the deciding factor between a gw vs narrows matchup is gonna come down to narrows’ defense, which I hear is some of the better your gonna see in the West this year. Gonna be interesting to see what happens if they meet up!

He is pretty damn good a legit dual threat QB. Our back field isn't bad either the line isn't quite what it has been but it'll do. And our D is ok we have a telnet filled team it's just bringing all the pieces together each game. So far it seems like they are but next week might be a test for our D. Then we have a week off to get ready for the tide.

The QB for GW is certainly the nucleus of the team. He is a real dual threat that takes a busted play and makes big gain out of it. My concern is how many times he is running the ball. He ran at least twenty times last night. All of those hits are going to take a toll later in the season especially against some of the tougher teams. He is one of the better QBs I have seen in a while although the key is getting penetration in the back field during his reads like Radford did.
GW will put points on the board on teams. Although their D struggles setting the edge. A team with speed will give them fits. As Auburn was a couple shoe string tackles away from some really big plays last night.

Radford absolutely put pressure on the kid. Thats what I think Blaster is referring to when he says the line isn’t what it has been. I also agree with you as far as the D is concerned. They stopped a couple of Auburn’s drives but like you stated, by a shoestring. There was one thing that stood about to me listening to the game. It sounded like gw slowed down the pace a lot on offense. That’s not the usual for them. Maybe they are trying something different knowing the have gate city then galax in the next 3 weeks? I guess if your defense is a little iffy you have to try to march your offensive down the field vs huge chunks. Ball control could be key in either game and hope the other team makes many more mistakes than you do.

I agree here, auburn had some near misses that would of been long TD plays if not for some great ankle tackles by GW. Looking at their roster GW is young and have some good years ahead. QB runs the offense extremely well, take him away and it's a totally different team.
GW vs Narrows would be a good game. Narrows has the better overall team, but GW QB is the difference maker. GW would win in a close one. Although against Galax it would be a different story. Galax line will eat GW up on offense and defense and their speed will give GW immortal fits. If Galax QB has a good game, Galax wins easily- if he gets into his funks like he tends to do it could be a good game.
