I assume folks have seen five years of going back and forth between these two Roanoke schools. They haven't played in forever because of bad taste left by last North Cross coach. They renew the rivalry next Friday night. Really good to see and I hear the players are doing a combined community service day this weekend to take the edge off the renewal.
Cudos to the two coaches for getting this together. Catholic always well coached and has a bigger roster numbers wise but North Cross has a few pretty good athletes. Look for a big year from Miles Lowman, Davis Call, and Maurice Garrison who is back at full strength from ACL that slowed him all last year. For kicks, there are two new ninth graders, a running back and a wideout that may get some serious playing time.
As always, there is not a team on the North Cross roster they can't beat and not a team on their roster they can't lose to. Playing up in D-2 and banging with the big boys at Blue Ridge, STAB, and NSA. Schedule is a bit lighter as they have scheduled the D-3 schools, Blessed Sac, Roanoke Catholic, and Fuqua.
Anyone know anything about Catholic? Any new players?
