Let's have a fun debate. Who's 2-0 start is more impressive ? Joe Taylor 2-0 start ? Or the 22 year old Aaron Lewis 2-0 start ?
Essex will win the district. Nmbld is much improved, but they wont be able to go palmer left or palmer right against the speed of Essex defense. And chunking the ball up for grabs is not exactly an offensive philosophy. Its a long season, we shall see.. Good luck and hopefully all the kids stay healthy
Both are the same to me. Neither team has beaten a top level team in their 2 wins. Surry and Northampton are not strong teams that Northumberland played and Middlesex/Mathews not strong teams for W&L. W&L struggled with Middlesex and won in OT and Northumberland won't doing so well at the half with Northampton. Northumberland and W&L have a lot of talent. NOW,,. If you want to break it down another way like learning new plays...I would give that edge to W&L. I'm guessing Taylor installed his stuff compared to Lewis might be running plays the kids already know. I'm guessing
CB should be much of the same. A promotion of a smart guy from within, who will run the same system they have been running for years. Lancaster seems to have a guy with a proven track record, and I know their principal greatly supports the athletic program. Football seems to be doing quite well in the NND.
Being that the Essex/W&L game will be the 9th game of the season, both teams should be hitting on all cylinders by that time. When it comes down to those 2 rivals, anything can happen.I think it's a great thing to see some young coaches infused into the District. The new guys both have major work cut out for them. Both have managed to start 2-0 and even though many don't consider either of the wins for both W&L and Northumberland to be significant, but it is good for them both to learn what they can do and need to improve on. That's good and hats off to them both and good luck. Would love to see W&L put Essex down..
I mentioned it in a post the other week about how young this year's KW team is. I even said they could finish anywhere between 4-6 And 8-2. But Bruton was one of the team's that I thought they'd beat. All of their top skill guys are sophomores and I think it probably will be a real struggle this week. They are taking their lumps right now but I still like this group of kids. It is a very good chance that they start 0-5. I hope not but I'm being realistic. But they will improve each week and until proven otherwise are still the favorites in the district although WP and Middlesex will have a say in it this year. But the future is bright at KW as these sophomores will only get older and wiser. Next year they will also bring up some talented 8th graders who are legit studs and who will have an impact all 4 years on varsity. KW hasn't had a losing season since 1974, I believe, and while it could be in jeopardy this year, I still stand by the statement I said that the streak will continue. I might be wrong but like I said, I like these young kids and they will only get better. Remember they lead Prince Edward a majority of the game and PE just beat a solid Altavista team
Was at that game. Ben Vincent put WP on his back that night. If I'm not mistaken, that game was played on a Saturday night as it got cancelled for some reason on Friday night. As a grown man I shouldn't feel this way, but it always feels FANTASTIC when WP beats KW. Still remember 21-12 from Fall 99 VERY well. The news chopper landing at the field. The Pointers in all orange to spoil KW's homecoming. Gets me amped just thinking about it.
They may need a few more campsI mentioned it in a post the other week about how young this year's KW team is. I even said they could finish anywhere between 4-6 And 8-2.
