Actually had a cool evening. Felt like fall but unfortunately did not have a football game. VES very down. Couldn't make simple handoffs or tosses. North Cross had their way, 50-0 with running clock at 8 minute mark in second quarter.

VES coaches back to the drawing board. Hope it is a case where boarding schools a bit slower out of the gate than day schools because of a later start. Otherwise a long season.

North Cross already down two starters to injury did not learn much. They have playmakers but still will come down to stopping the run something they did tonight but against an overmatched opponent.

North Cross a little easier schedule this year than usual as they have replaced the beach trips with Fuqua and Roanoke Catholic, giving them three lower division games (Blessed Sac next week).

Okay, I know it's early and all it takes is a critical injury or another team to gel late in the season but the North Cross faithful have to be pretty optimistic with their chances to actually win the Div II state title this year. That would be quite an accomplishment for Coach Alexander and the Raiders considering they are officially Div III size. With some regular (now) Div II teams that have historically been strong seemingly in possible rebuilding years (e.g., NSA, VES, etc.), I think that NC might be able to pull it off. But like I said, it's early...

Blue Ridge also has to be looked at hard. They play physically and always seem to have a couple of tough athletes. North Cross has already lost starting running back/starting corner to a knee injury. Have not heard of it is for the year yet. Long season but NCS has to be excited.
