Congrats to the Northumberland Football Program and to their star, Cameron Seldon, on being officially offered a full ride by the University of Virginia.

As I understand it, Seldon will soon become a Nationally ranked big time recruit. His prospects may be about to blow up.

Best wishes to him and Northumberland Coach Lewis as they navigate through this exciting process for the young man.

I, for one, hope that he remembers who discovered him first and remains in the great commonwealth of Virginia.

The kid is definitely a D1 athlete and has speed to burn, plus has good size. With 2 more years of high school, he will have plenty more offers before it's all said and done

Yes, Cam got the full ride offer from football powerhouse Penn State University today! Another big Congrats to him!

Seldon also competes in Track and Field for Northumberland as well if anyone wants to check him out before the upcoming football season. I believe that he runs the 100, 200 and does the long jump.

Biggest thing he needs to do is to hit the camp circuit this summer. To be a really high-profile recruit, they are going to want to see him against other high-profile recruits to prove that he isn't just a big fish in a small pond.

That being said, if he wants to go to UVA or PSU, then pull the trigger now and spend the summer getting bigger and faster. You don't have to keep going to auditions if you already have the role you want.

Reminds me of how Juan Thornhill did it. He got the UVa offer he wanted so he focused on getting better and being ready to play when he got to UVa instead of spending all summer traveling around the country to get other offers. If he'd been seen at camps he would've been moved up to a 4* DB but that didn't make a difference.

Interesting that you brought up Juan Thornhill’s situation.

I have thought about how Cam’s athletic abilities and physical skills remind me of a young Thornhill.

In addition, sophomore Cameron broke the Northumberland High School record for the 100 meter dash today.

He ran a 10.5.

Holy jeez that's insanely fast. Electronically timed?
DK Metcalf is one of fastest dudes in the NFL and he recently ran a 10.37 at some Olympic qualifier. If a HS kid runnin 10.5 already, he's gonna start gobbling up P5 offers.

I'd love to see Seldon and Demond Claiborne of King William, in a foot race. Both in the same area pretty much and both are P5 recruits. Claiborne runs a 4.36 yard 40. Regardless, both kids are really special and will make noise at the next level

Northumberland and King William are both at West Point on Friday. Will probably be hand-timed but they may race each other then.

Doesn’t WP have digital timing at their track facility? I know they did back when it was originally put in when I attended school there.

Cam’s 10.5 is hand timed however converted time is 10.74
Any sophomore running sub 11s in the 100 is a big deal, especially if it's clearly sub 11, like the time you quoted. Will be really interesting when he gets an FAT time. And I think the converted time is really 10.84. Round up to the next tenth plus .24, so 10.50 rounds up to 10.60 + .24 makes 10.84. I didn't think there was an exception for being at 10.50 instead of 10.51.

I saw a video on his Twitter a few days ago and Claiborne ran a 10.6 100 meters at a meet on Saturday. I assume that was hand timed, but not sure.

I believe that was Friday's meet at West Point. If you have the link, send it to me.

King William is hosting a meet Thursday. F.A.T. will be used there so if he runs, there will be a legit time.

Wow - Cameron Seldon’s (Northumberland High School - Class of 2023) rankings are in from 247sports.com.

Cam is a 4 star recruit - overall score of 90/100.

He is ranked #4 in his recruiting class (highest ranked skill player) in Virginia.

Cam is ranked the 21st WR in the Nation and the 157th overall recruit in the United States.

I am fairly confident that that is the highest ranking of a local player I have ever seen in our area in my 25 years or so supporting local athletics.

Phenomenal news!
