Based on the team I saw last night. Big kids. Athletic and quick.
But prone to make mistakes. Fumbles, penalites, etc.

They should beat Luray at home. And have a hard task to have to face Sussex in round 2.
But if Northumberland can play smart and not beat themselves, they will win this coming weekend.

Good luck Indians.

Have you seen Luray play?

Luray is a physical hard nosed team that comes from a tough district. They played a team last year in the first round from down this way in Middlesex who had similar athleticism as Northumberland and won then played Essex tough in the second round. I wish the Indians well but they will have to earn it on Friday night for sure

And that is exactly what you can not do to be successful in the playoffs, so they will have a short postseason imo

Thanks JoelzDad for the best wishes for Northumberland. Just so other readers know, JoelzDad supports Lancaster, Northumberland's major rival. So he is not an Indian fan assuming a victory over Luray.

He is very correct in that NHS is talented and could make a nice run. However, as I have stated since the Middlesex win in week 4, Northumberland has way too many turnovers and penalties. Even in their big victories, it has been the case. Like 3 turnovers and 154 yards in penalties against the huge win v Rapp etc.

NHS could very well be 9-1. Only the Essex game was NHS dominated (and that was after two turnovers as well). So many turnovers (some forced, many just mistakes) against CB, W&L, and Essex. Those teams deserved their wins for sure, but these issues must be fixed.

Luray will be a very tough out. Luray plays a tough, disciplined, smart style of football. They have played many good teams. Have not had a chance to read much about them so if more is known, please post any info. Luray played Essex really tough twice recently. Luray has great coaching from what little I've seen.

Northumberland MUST have a focused, disciplined, energetic, week of practice! Focus on timing, special teams, stopping the run (but be ready for a rare pass), and blocking.

Good luck to the Indians! Plus Essex and Colonial Beach. Hey, three Northern Neck teams earned a home playoff game, well done.

I am very glad the game is at Northumberland. Nothing against Luray (never been to a game there), but in my experience, Eastern teams often don't get many calls when they play out West....certainly not any 50/50 calls. Most of the teams in the Neck use Richmond area refs (far away) not local boys...

I was responding to the initial post bud. Yeah I know you have ties to a school down here in the Neck though and live in the area that Luray plays in now. Page County I assume just from seeing some other posts on here. Beautiful country out that way
