Hayfield's lack of kicking game is going to be a problem eventually. Last night they went 0 for 5 on two-point conversions. Actually on two of them they got a second chance because of a penalty, so make it 0 for 7. Never any chance that they would attempt a field goal, even when they were down 26-24 late, and their short kickoffs kept going out of bounds.
Oddly enough, it may have helped them last night. When Patriot scored after trailing 24-19, they probably would have gone for two against most teams, but they kicked the extra point instead, since there's not much advantage in being up three against a team that doesn't kick field goals. If they'd gone for two and gotten it, they would have been down just 30-27 at the end, and been able to try a tying field goal instead of having to go for it on fourth and goal.
