One of the best is retiring

Here are the quick numbers:

PARK VIEW
- 71 wins at from ‘90-‘99 including 5 playoff appearances. His final game was a 21-20 loss to Salem in the state title game.

STONE BRIDGE
- 265 wins (against 53 losses) in 24 seasons
- 9 undefeated regular seasons
- 16 regional titles
- 12 state title game appearances
- 3 state titles

Stone Bridge quickly went from a “new school” in 2000 to a Northern Virginia football powerhouse. Coach Thompson’s legacy in the Virginia High School football history books is surely secure. That relentless grind from Coach Thompson to strive for that high level of consistency day in and day out is what sticks out to me. He always spoke about the importance of building relationships with players, parents, and everyone associated with the program. From his lens, this was always more important than wins and losses.

I hope Mickey can truly enjoy his retirement. If he does decide to step back on the sideline again at some point, just know, there is a QB spinner on 4th and 5 from your own 22 yard line waiting to bust it up the gut for 30 yards when you least expect it.

Well. Someone said that if you think it you can create it. If you say it, it will be so. Who said that?
