Parry McCluer at George Wythe

How many points did that 83 team give up, just curious?

I found some old clippings from that team, plus an old Southwest Virginia Enterprise insert (of course, now Wytheville Enterprise) that was released after the season. The 83 team allowed a total of 84 points in 14 games in a schedule that consisted of William Byrd, Radford, Giles (twice), Blacksburg, Christiansburg, Tazewell, Laurel Park (who has since consolidated into Magna Vista), and Courtland in the championship game. That's an average of 6.0 points allowed thru 14 games.

FYI, in regards to Gunz41's post, with all due respect, I did not play on this particular team. I understand how some guys get caught up on the whole "my team was better than yours" angle, and you are completely correct. But that's not me. Just a GW fan for a long, long time that was fortunate enough to play in the program at some point.

Where can a man find stats for George Wythe; records, rushing, passing, etc..? I also saw in the 90's Russell had three teams to go 8-2 and not make the playoffs.

Still looking for some stats from these teams. Who has most rushing yards season and game?

Good luck with stats. I have quite a few scores for GW, but nowhere near complete. Heck, even the data I have for the Lexington/PM/Natural Bridge scores hits a brick wall in the late 30's/early 40's.

They have had but 2 since I've been alive not a bad run we've had. Hopefully it will continue next year.

Me either. Their biggest dry spell was when I was in school, so I assumed they had always been bad.

You go there in the 80's? I joke regularly with a Giles friend who I trade Giles/GW updates with how bad we were in that era outside of the 83 bunch. He doesn't disagree lol!

Love following Giles...I'm a gw loyal, but root for the other good guys from afar. Y'all whip up Fort tomorrow.

Records aside, 90, 92, 97-2000 teams are among some of the best teams in the bunch that no one ever discusses. 90 was hands down the most physical with arguably the best O-Line, and 92 had one of the best backfields I've ever seen assembled. Those teams on the back end of the decade had a lot of talent.

Hell 92' was my first year at spiller elem., the youngest of five, but my other bro was a RB on 92' team grad. 93'

92' team went 8-2 not making playoffs.

We got to play together in the alumni game in 2012 against RR and got smoked. 89' 93' 05'.
