Congratulations to the new Head Boys Basketball Coach at Petersburg High School, Ty White (@Chosen2give)!
It would suck for the kids who have come up through the system in Petersburg from a young age to all of a sudden be on teh bench or not on the team at all.
Yes I agree, but from inside the basketball Circle in the 804 and Hopewell, Petersburg area he's already got a couple of AAU kids maybe three or four for what I'm hearing. And this is coming from some players and coaches.
Not 100% sure, but that's the rumor that's going around from people close to insider's.

Yes - he played in the Live period with them last week.

they can always do like the others with promise have been doing; go and play at Prince George or Matoaca or Colonial Heights. I am sure they are not happy with P Burg's resurrection.
So who's going to be the top teams in the 804 now that John Marshall is done with the transfers, Hopewell returns 4 starters from last year state runner up championship team, Varina returns if I'm not mistaken 4 starters from there last year state championship runner up team, were will Petersburg be after all the transfers come in from every were.
Just read an article online by the Richmond Times Dispatch about Petersburg playing in a showcase event in Richmond this weekend. Not a single starter listed played at Petersburg last year. Three came from John Marshall, including Allmond, Givan, who is going to Mississippi St, and Cam Claiborne. Another starter came from Catholic and was offered by Mississippi St this weekend. The 5th starter is King Bacot, who is the #1 player in the class of 2029, and who was originally going to John Marshall. Obviously kids like playing for White, but I'm curious what the real Petersburg guys think about it. The ones who are actually from there and were starters last year on a decent Wave team.
Unfortunately for some high school basketball coaches it's all about recruiting the best players to play for you and winning, The VHSL stated they were enforce the transfer policies but there is also a loophole in the system. This takes away from the game of of high school basketball and shows that you probably can't win otherwise. For the Petersburg kids who are home grown kids good luck playing.
Yeah it looks like the homegrown kids will be an afterthought, and yes obviously there's a loophole, although I'm not up to date on the new policy and what it entails. But im pretty sure that nobody is knocking down the doors at Petersburg to go there for academics.
Looks like I’ll be in Petersburg a lot this basketball season. I love what Ty White is doing. Nothing but respect.
