To make things even weirder Phoebus will no longer play their remaining 3 games and will just practice the next 2 weeks for the playoffs. No clue why this happened but I'm sure it has something to do with COVID. This will be an interesting playoffs because although Phoebus has a great team they will lack the experience on the field.

Are there any other teams not finishing their regular season?

I know the Gloucester/ Phoebus game this past weekend was cancelled due to covid and the last regular season game on 4/2 was unscheduled, no opponent ever listed on Maxpreps. I’d say many teams never played the scheduled 6 games and a number also played only 3 or 4. Here in the Bay rivers covid and injuries caused all but two teams miss games. I do believe all the playoff contenders in the Bay Rivers in class 3 and 4 will play this final weekend though.
But on the positive side, fewer injuries and less data to scout the team on.

I would get mad about teams gaming the system to make the playoffs. But as we saw in basketball, even if you do everything right, you could beat a team with a covid player and get eliminated anyway. Just treat every game you can play as your playoffs, because it might be your last

Based on my rather back of the envelope calculations and win expectations I see the # 1 seed as Lafayette snd # 2 as Phoebus. I see Hopewell making it if they beat Motoaca who I am not very familiar with. It may be as a 3 or 4 seed based on the Tabb/ New Kent game this Friday. If Tabb wins they may barely get the #3 seed and if NK wins they are more certainly the # 4 seed.

The Hopewell vs Phoebus game scheduled for tonight has been moved to tomorrow (Saturday, April 10th) at 2:00 pm. Gates open at 1:00 pm. Remember, tickets will not be on sale at the gate.
