Does anybody know anything about York? Tabb looked like Gloucester. Is York any better?

I'm not feeling this drop in divisions. I miss the old days with Hampton rematches, Lake Taylor, and Stone Bridge. Is this a permanent move? Could we drop again?

If the school size drops yes you can. If the school size increases you could possibly move up also.

York is significantly better than Tabb. Better offense and defense all around. Their freshman QB has started all year and passes well to w/r Gilbert. Running game is very good and defense is solid. They are playing well right now.

I cant agree. I think if tabb had their starters they would beat York.. they gave phoebus a scare today, score should have been 6-3 at the half for phs but they shanked the fg. and we exposed our west coast off. for 50 second td...that knocked the wind out of them...besides this York team was lucky to escape a less than avg. Smithfield team and whisked by tabb by only a td. went blank against laf. squeaked by a lowly bruton team..the only significant win was against a poq. team that lost 5 starters prior. my guess a rematch would end in a blowout...phoebus wins 42-7

i really dont get it either...based on vhsl, you guys have the same number of students as phs at 1050...lakeland has almost 1500.petersburg at 1450 can someone explain how teams are picked for which div.? thanks

No way Petersburg has 1450. If they do I would be shocked.

I have heard we were like 3 students over the cutoff. A game this year between Phoebus and Lafayette would have been a classic - first meeting ins least 17 years. The speculation here when they redo the numbers again I believe for 2018 we will be back in 3a for some time..

I think it goes by only 3 grades...maybe 9-11 or 10-12...I'm not sure which one.

VHSL Handbook says 9-12. In a 4 tier system that I devised, Lafayette and Phoebus would both be 3A. Bay Rivers would have: York, Tabb, Warhill, Lafayette, Grafton, and Jamestown. Bruton, New Kent, and Poquoson would be 2A. Peninsula would have: Phoebus, Heritage, Denbigh, Warwick, Hampton, and Menchville. Woodside, Bethel, Gloucester, and Kecoughtan would be in 4A.
