Man, really??So......the kid's you bring up from PM that were in the field events, that's actually intelligent. They threw a shot/discus and were MEASURED, their MEASUREMENT beat everyone else in their classification and a lot of other kids as well. That's called data. We can use that. You can now state, "These kids from PM can throw farther than this person, or that person, we know, we have MEASUREMENTS." Vaguely stating "I BELIEVE this person is faster", is just wrong. Either they are....or they aren't.
My statement about "especially from PM" is a little jab at the poster last year that stated they had 3 kids in the backfield that were running 4.4's. I've watched them, many times, they aren't running 4.4's, not close. They ARE very good football players, they just aren't running 4.4's. Those are just facts.
I have zero issues with PM's team, I was actually hoping they would beat GW last year (tall task). It seems that I have a problem with their fans gloating about easily refutable issues. You have a solid squad and it's great to cheer your team on, but to state you have a kid that is "as fast or faster" than Beck is just wrong and doesn't draw a good picture for the PM fan base.
Do as you please, say as you please, and cheer as you please. But, best believe, when you come on this board and start spewing nonsense, you will be called out for it.
I apologize (I guess) DinwiddieProud, I didn't mean to "cross the line". But something had to be said. My brain was leaking out of my ears when I was reading the posts from above.
Good luck to everyone this year! Hopefully PM can take down GW! I'll definitely be cheering for them!
LOL... I don't recall anyone rattling your chain Sir.... And by the way, I'm still waiting on that "BIG PARTY" that you guys were going to throw where we were all supposed to sit around and enjoy a cold adult beverage and talk football before our looonng and disappointing ride back home... Just saying!!I have really enjoyed reading all this back and forth crap.
Gunz41, Once Again, Duly noted and I absolutely, without a doubt respect and understand where you are coming from and the point which you make... I agree 100% that it has gotten to the point of repetition however, I will always stand my ground when and if it's something that I truly believe in and most definitely when I feel that my opinion or thoughts are of legitimate and valid discussion.. I applaud you for "ringing my bell" in a manner in which I can rationalize what you as an observer (fellow poster) is reading. The Walker kid IS NOT my son, but if he were, I would still feel the same until the discussion(which may never happen) was proven different.. My intention was NEVER to take anything away from Mr. Beck and what he has accomplished & if that was the interpretation, I truly apologize, to Mr. Beck and everyone else.. I simply wanted to give credit where credit was due and in this case I feel that if the Walker kid had a legitimate opportunity to prove himself (which he does, by the way of Track & Field) he would be more recognized as a legitimate "speed threat"... On or off the track as well as on or off of the field! I truly hate that the kid has no desire to run competitively however, that is his choice.. So, that being said, Thank you again, and I promise to move on... I know that much of this is just in "good fun" and we all poke one another here and there.. I do try NOT to take it personally however, sometimes I think it's just the nature of the beast with folks like us,(football folks) who are passionate about and live for the game of football, at any level... There are many, many talented, gifted and knowledgeable(several more so than I)including GatorBait1988 that have added so much to this board and others. I agree, we should be more respectful of each other... Including myself!!I can't understand why some posters on this message board cannot be respectful to others. There are certainly ones on here that state things all the time like their word is like the word of god. EVERYONE should be able to have their opinion, and be able to voice it. When things get repetitive or disrespectful is when people start changing from discussions to arguments.
go back and read the entire thread @GatorBait1988. Look at the difference in how boom responds to yours and mine. That is because I was respectful. What I think happened with @HRCMSTHBOOM is that he may have used a few words that were incorrect and not intended to be meant that way, i.e. not up for discussion and i don't care what his time is.
The fact is, since the kid doesn't have any time, NOBODY knows whether he is or isn't faster. Say he isn't, what good does it do to say it? All I see is a fan of his team, and for all we know this kid could be his kid. Do you think that just because he says that the kid is faster that it somehow will be taken for the absolute truth? So from a message board and a post saying he is faster than it will get him unwarranted recognition? I for one think recognition for any kid is good, unless it is for a bad thing. Does this post somehow discredit anything the Beck kid has accomplished?
Just because someone has their own opinion, doesn't mean they are out of line for stating it. Certainly if it isn't something derogatory should they be tried to make a fool of or cause for someone to be very rude to them.
By the way, I am faster than Usain Bolt, and I have a picture of a stopwatch with 9.42 on it, you want to see for proof. If that were the case with the situation with a recorded time, I would suspect that people still wouldn't believe it.

There is no problem with having a opinion...a opinion would be "I think Player A is better than Player B." There are so many variables that go into being a "good" player. You could argue your case on those...I get that and have no problem. I don't agree with having an opinion on speed. It can be measured. My mind is analytical, I'm just wired that way. Stating someone is faster than someone is a truth. Either they are or they aren't. That's like me stating, "2+2=5. That's my opinion. Deal with it." Everyone knows 2+2 can be proven. Same with speed.
I also don't have a problem with a fan coming on here stating, "We have a super fast kid on the team." Fast is a relative term. But when you start stating that the kid is "as fast or faster" than another...that's when it become comparable and thus can be proven or disproven. Also....we get that the kid doesn't have a time, I would recommend to just state he is "fast" then. Until the time comes out (if it does) don't say he is "as fast or faster" than someone with a proven time. That's just not fair.
Again....have all the opinions you want....just don't have them on things that have a definitive answer.
Yes we can all get along....
Ok fair enough, but what about all the variables that can go into something that is quantitative? All the conditions that can effect speed. Just to give you a few to ponder on. Footwear, surface, weather conditions, whether they were running by themselves or against someone to "push" them, and of course hand timed or electronically timed. You see, its not just as simple 2 people run and whoever posts a faster time is faster. The reason 2+2 works is it is done in the same environment with the same set of circumstances and a full proof method of determining.

Gunz41, just give it up... It was worth a shot, we have have tried to break it down for him (them) but it is quite obvious that several folks are hung up on the "FACT" that an individual and their "OPINION" carries no weight unless it can first be "PROVEN"... It is quite apparent there is no such thing as an opinion...Ok fair enough, but what about all the variables that can go into something that is quantitative? All the conditions that can effect speed. Dude, you may be!! And if that's your OPINION and that's what you believe, so be it... As in the circumstance's of discussion here, until it's proven otherwise (which in your case as well, may never happen) it still remains a possibility!!! Just as you claim in my comment, it's highly unlikely, and as you say, laughable and hysterical, but still POSSIBLE!!It's my opinion that I am faster than Usain Bolt. Deal with it.
We are drastically reaching now. There are always variables, in everything. All I'm asking for is a time, that's it....a time. If there isn't one, don't state he is "faster" or "as fast". Period.
Let the kid run however he wants. Provide a time or keep quiet. There is an absolute truth here, stop reaching, guy.
I don't think you are talking to the smartest BV resident ! Try talking to the wall !How in the world can you really not see how this applies. The math thing is a reach to prove a point, but the different circumstances to run have a big bearing on things. If you didn't know I will spell it out for you, since you want to act like you know everything. For a 100 meter dash, I think the number is .22 that would be difference in hand timed vs electronic time. If someone runs on grass vs a track their time will be different. If the wind is different it effects time, ever heard of wind aided? So if player A runs a 4.5 in a certain condition, his time could be better or worse in the condition that player B runs. If player A runs a 5.0 40 and Player B runs a 4.3 40 then it would be safe to say that the conditions wouldn't make up the difference in the 2 numbers, but if the times are closer then any number of conditions can dictact an outcome. The only way to prove it without a shadow of a doubt is to have them line up next to each other and find out. Since you are the only one who seems to care what time each runs, we are counting on you to set it up
