Parry McCluer's Josh Fischer places 3rd in the Shot-Put @(52' 3") out of 135 throwers, a mere 1/4" behind the 2nd place finisher at the Bulldog Invitational (1A-6A) Indoor Qualifier Meet held at Liberty University on Sat. Jan. 6th.
Fischer, the 6' 5" 265 lb Senior who was seeded 3rd going into the meet based on last seasons performance (PR 52' 6") had a respectable showing considering this was his 1st Indoor (or any) meet of the year.. He missed the first meet a few weeks ago while he was participating in the VHSCA All Star Football Game @ UVA Wise. He has been able to get in some practice throwing but with all the "nice" weather we've had lately it's been a little tough to get in too many "quality practices"..
Fischer, who for the last few years has been somewhat "overshadowed" by the success of last seasons VHSL Combined 1A -2A Indoor/Outdoor State Champ, former team mate and William & Mary freshman thrower K J Cook, looks to be on track for a successful Senior year of throwing..
Best of Luck to all of the throwers this season...
And as always, GO BLUES!!!
