Can’t wait for the write up on this one. Cville had several chances to score and failed. Lots of calls against them. Not sure on some of them but was in the stands.
My honest opinion? The refs got at least two calls wrong (the Woodley catch that led to the first WF score) and the defensive PI on Hinton in the end zone where WF was also flagged for a roughing the passer call that gave CV a chance to cut the lead in half just prior to the half. But then CV made some mistakes and failed to score. The problem with the calls against CV was that they almost always occurred at the worst possible time for them-four times in the red zone, zero points-that was a combo of WF defense and CV penalties. That being said, WF was the better team on both sides of the ball tonight. I also have a feeling this will not be the last meeting of these two this fall.
There were actually 2 catches that Woodley made on the Centreville sideline that were hotly contested. Having seen replays of both from multiple sources I don't see anything conclusive that they were not good catches. E.g. you can see them both at link below at 0:30 and 1:00. Maybe someone else has even better angles.
