Yes I am a Goochland fan but absolutely know nothing about them other than started like gang busters then fell off a little and now putting up great numbers. I am assuming this will be a great game?

Poquoson has some excellent backs , can pass when they want to and have a defense that is not big physically but extremely fast and very sure tacklers. They have seemed to have regained their mojo now but remember in the final three weeks of the season they meet two Div 4 playoff teams in Lafayette and Smithfield. That experience can immensely help on Friday.
Besides the normal Friday rush hour traffic coupled with the Black Friday madness, I see that Virginia Tech and UVA are playing at UVA this Friday night starting at 8:00 pm. Just another reason that Poquoson fans need to leave very early for the game at Goochland.
Just watched some highlights of the Goochland-Amelia playoff game. Looks like this Friday's game may be a smashmouth affair.
Without traffic almost 2 hours, with traffic who knows. Having worked in Richmond, Poquoson fans take the 295 route back to 64. The straight route of all 64 is a killer thru Richmond.
Traffic won't be a problem Goochland is off the main road. Take 64 to 288 south and turn on Rt 6 and follow it right to the school. Should be a good one. I'm going with the Bulldogs. It's hard to win a playoff game on their field.
talked to a kid at work that played for Poqouson last year. He had a Poq shirt on and was like "They moved us down this year." I asked him does he know anything about 2A football. He said, "Not much." I replied...So you never heard of Appomattox? He said, "No who are they?" I was like "A team that has lost one game in 3 years." His eyes got big in disbelief. I said....Yep they are in the playoffs but on the West. He said...."I guess its not going to be easy for us huh?" I laughed and walked away.....
I learned my lesson with Appo last year. Still eating my humble pie lol! Would love to see Appo and Goochland face off in the final but still a lot of good teams out there and games to be played. Good luck to all!
Poquoson and Goochland is a toss-up. The game up in the Valley is a toss-up as well. Flip a coin and you get a winner for both. That’s how close all 4 teams are. Additionally, the semi-final game between the two region winners (A and B) will be a toss-up. I’m hopeful the Bull Islanders new found offense and very difficult schedule (contrary to what many away from the coast realize) is enough to get us over the hump. Time will tell. I think that all 4 teams left in Region A and B are potential state-title game contenders and this wouldn’t be a surprise whoever went, and whoever loses this week in both regions and in the semi-finals between both regions would be no surprise either, because all 4 are close. I like the momentum my team has, and the ability to run the ball in crucial situations and play very good defense may favor us some.
As for the other side, keep in mind that Appo outpointed Graham, but Union outpointed Appo. Appo will beat Glenvar by 20. This will not be a running clock game or 40 point win for Appo, but a game in which they have well in hand by the late 3rd. As for Graham and Union, another toss up much like this side of the state. It’s at Union and that may be the difference. As for the next game with the Region C vs Region D winner, this will be interesting and that game becomes a potential losing game for Appo. I’m not saying they will, but if they play Union, it’s at Union. That’s the same stadium that saw Powell Valley and its legendary powerhouse teams lose very rarely at their own place in the playoffs. Few teams have come there, especially late in the year in bitter cold weather and late in the playoffs, and get a W. Union is a team that is probably better than Appo on the line, but Appo is better at the skilled positions and they have a Master Mind for a Head Coach. Advantage Appo, but slightly. As for Graham, if it’s Appo vs Graham, the game is at Appo. As for Graham, they may actually be more talented than Appo and actually faster when comparing all 22 positions on the field, and they are incredibly difficult to bust big plays on because of their speed in the back 7 on defense, but if they have a weakness, it’s the defensive line and run defense, although they are still good. This game I give the advantage to Appo because it’s at Appo, but again, only slightly, and it’s going to be interesting for Appo to play a team that actually has more speed than it does, if the two meet.
Glenvar, no offense to these fans. I’m not meaning to slight you, and I put Glenvar on equal terms as all 4 of the remaining teams in the East, but Glenvar has the unfortunate position of being in the same Region as a team that has had a magical run of talent and success, and has to play them before everyone else.

Bro you was one of the boldest dudes I know on here that came at Appo fans. You had big kahunas for that one. Cant hold it against you....after game you came on here apologizing. Excited to see who wins Gooch and Poq game. I am also excited about the Union/Graham.
I have nothing but respect for Appo and what that program has done. Honestly anyone left standing after this week has a shot. I think the playing field this year may be a little bit more equal than what it was last year but Appo will still be hard to knock out. You don’t win that many games on luck! Good luck to everyone. CoachRicky, stop apologizing. You openly ate crow once, and that's all you need to do. I give you kudos because you have the balls to make in which very view will do that because they have no balls. You sir, have balls! Some are cowards. That's also not to say that every person who doesn't give a prediction is a coward. For some, it's not their thing and I get it, but for the one's who do not make predictions, and then pile on or remind you of your wrong prediction the second it happens, those are cowards. My predictions still stands from early August....
1. Poquoson will finish the regular season with 2 losses, but will advance to the state title game against Appo and give Appo their closest state title game of their 3 year run.
2. Appo will again play for the state title and win it.
3. Graham will beat Richlands in the regular season this year, and Graham will advance to the state semifinals and lose to Appomattox.
I've already been wrong about Poquoson as we lost 3 games and finished 7-3.
I hope I'm wrong about Appo winning the state title over Poquoson, if in fact Poquoson can make it that far, and that goes for Appo also, if they make it that far. When I made the picks, the Richlands fans (some of them, not all or most, but some) just hammered me and reminded me of Richland's success against Graham and a couple even got into name-calling. Either way, I had the balls to make a pick. Why? It's fun. It's what message board posters do. It's what fans do. We aren't players in High School right now, and we absolutely DO NOT have to "get ready" for the next opponent, or focus on "what's in front of us right now." That's for the players, not us. We can do what the heck we want to and postulate, speculate, and even equivocate if we desire. Why? It's fun, and that's what message boards regarding football fans are supposed to be. Fun. You will notice that when you are wrong with a prediction or pick, some folks (not all and not most, but some) will come out of the woodwork to let you know that, but when correct, it's silence. When Poquoson lost for the 3rd time in regular season, a couple of people reminded me of my wrong prediction, but when Graham beat Richlands, I never heard a pin drop, especially from Richlands fans. I'm sure some of the Richlands fans will say, "well so what, it was expected." Well, it absolutely was NOT expected in early August when I made the pick.

forgive the 19 year old not knowing who is in 2a football, quite frankly most of the state has to google wikipedia to know where appo or central or any of those teams are in the state(no offense, but its true). Actually the dialogue was a normal convo and the kid was very curious and polite. That is true...matter of fact we just greeted each other an hour ago. Gonna go ask him later what his thoughts on Goochland / Poq game. You are the one that took the dialogue wrong. I think u are taking the whole walking away laughing a lil too serious. No i wasn’t laughing in his face as i walked out. I walked away with a “aiight man ill holla at ya.” After walking out i used an inside snicker as if there are a lot of poq fans that is gonna learn where appo is on a map sooner or later. Its def about the kids, i agree to that. I have thick skin but when someone comes at me or my Appo team incorrectly ... i will spat off my mouth. You know why im AdvocateOfMany434? Because there was NO appo fans on here before i came and people was on here bashing my team. I was just a regular reader for years. So i said im gonna advocate for my people with all this bashing. I threw 434 in because i will always root for Central Va teams over anyone they play.
In Poquoson and Goochland we have two physical teams that love to run the football, but both can pass when needed. This one is likely going to be a slugfest.

if this was at poq. home its 42-0 in favor of poq. however, its in goochland, homefield and refs are quite questionable, that leaves me with 28-7, final score. gooch runs for 150 yrds. 80yds passing, fumble and int., qb may go out of the game, rb may join him or at least rest. poq. poq runs 275yds. 30 yds pass., fumble is possible, but field adv. goes to poq. kick/punt game. gooch can flip by hail mary and praying to john. but if poq. sec. shows up, its a moot point. depending on which team shows up and how the game is officiated this quite possibly flip flop the other way. but thats football.

This is what I will promise you about Goochland they know they play in a weaker division and are thirsty for competition and hopefully y’all prepare them for the next game! Worked out real well we lost to the two time defending champ in the semi finals Appo. I would consider that a successful year. We will see on Friday how it works out for y’all coming west. Safe travels.

Well since this G team has only had a wrestling team for 2 years I don’t think that could be very relevant but this G team dominates in the spring as well in multiple sports. But right now the only thing that matters is this G team getting that W Friday night and let you get onto wrestling in you leotards.
