How They Got Here
St Anne's-Belfield finished with a 9-1 record with their only loss coming on the road at Bishop Sullivan. They outscored their opponents by more than 340 points. Nansemond-Suffolk Academy made the D2 playoffs for the 3rd straight year under Head Coach Lew Johnston. The Saints finished 5-5and needed a win over Hampton Roads Academy to make the playoffs.
Prospect Watch
Lee Parkhill made his 61 completions count tossing 20 touchdown passes while averaging 21.8 yards per reception. UVA baseball recruit Jalen Harrison led the Saints with 20 receptions and 457 yards. Juniors Kareem Johnson and Campbell Miller scored seven touchdowns each. Injuries allowed six different players to carry the ball at least 20+ times during the year. Senior Jake Allen is the power back scoring six touchdowns and gaining 253 yards in seven games. Senior DeeJay Anderson averaged 19.3 yards per carry while scoring five touchdowns on 20 carries.
The Saints defense allowed only 12.6 points per game and they allowed more than two touchdowns only once. The secondary is top notch with Jalen Harrison, Rob Schotta, and Kareem Johnson. Linebacker John Woodson is a disruptive pass rusher and senior Jake Allen delivers big hits. Deejay Anderson is strong against the run and pass. Bredt Stockwell is a rock inside.
Nansemond-Suffolk once again features a potent rushing attack that helped the team average 43 points per game. Junior Noah Giles led the team in rushing posting 1154 yards and 19 touchdowns while averaging 13.9 yards per rush. He also led the team with 16 touchdown receptions and 236 yards. Tight end C.J Patterson added 15 receptions for 233 yards and three touchdowns. All-State fullback David Gough has a bruising running style and he accounted for 940 yards and 14 touchdowns. Addison Peak added 529 yards rushing as the wingback. Junior quarterback Noah Serianni threw for 691 yards with 8 touchdowns and 8 interceptions.
Linebacker Cole Christiansen is closing in on 300 tackles for his career at Nansemond-Suffolk and he recorded nine sacks and an interception this year. Lineman Trent Taylor had 53 tackles with five tackles. Reed Browne and Noah Giles man the secondary and both picked off a pass this year.
