The Leemen picked up back to back wins over Covington and Fort Defiance this week. Lee crushed Covington 85-38 and won a defensive battle with Fort Defiance 46-32.

Lee now 10-5 will next play Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday it's the rematch with 3A power Waynesboro who is sitting 13-3. Waynesboro won the first meeting breaking a late 51 all tie to get the win. Wednesday the Leemen will face another 3A power in Spotswood. Lee was beaten 69-43 in their first meeting. I think this one will be much closer. Lee wraps up a busy week with Turner Ashby on Friday.

C-36 is looking pretty tough right now. Lee is playing well, East Rock is on a roll, Page is having a good season, and Stuarts Draft hung 114 on Stonewall last night. That's not to mention the improving Nelson and Gap teams.

Lee is getting better each week it seems and....I expect a good postseason run.

Assuming that only two of those would survive the conference and move on to the regionals, I would put my money on Lee and East Rock. ER has handled Page twice I believe, and Lee of course has Mr. George. Page might sneak in there, and SD, despite having several 100+ games, just can't do that on a regular basis against quality teams. But if more than two get to advance, that would be cool. As for Nelson and Gap, you are right that they are better than they appeared in the early going, but neither one will be able to make a serious push in the post-season.

I have been impressed with East Rockingham. They are playing really well right now. Longtimer...how's Riverheads shaping up in 1A? I know they are having a rebuilding type season...any chance they put it together for a postseason run?

I think Nelson County is my dark horse as far as a C-36 surprise. They could knock off someone and get to the regionals. I'm not sure how far they can go past that. Lee's schedule strength will help them come tourney time. They have played a lot of 3A teams...Valley District. The games against Loudoun Valley, Armstrong, Waynesboro, and Spotswood stand out. Loudoun Valley looks like a 4A title favorite. Waynesboro is very good at 13-3, Armstrong has played a tough schedule and is a solid team and...Spotswood is good as usual. I'm hoping that pays off come postseason time for Lee.

Lee is also getting scoring around Darius George which is a key as well. I am also seeing a big improvement in Lee's defense. Should be interesting.

It is a little too early to tell. They have some definitely winnable games left ahead on the schedule, so if they were to win some of those, it might boost their confidence for the post-season. As I have been saying, they only have one senior and also a very young JV team, so for all practical purposes, the same kids should be back next year, just hopefully a year older and wiser.
