Radford 7 Gretna 6

Dang, I almost went to this one. It has been a long time since I have been in attendance at anything this defensive in HS football.

Wow. All the hype on Gretna may be overstated but Radford often surprises one way or the other. Gretna is probably pretty good as stated on here. Of all Glenvar's remaining regular season games, that is the one that worries me the most.

There was a recent discussion about Gretna and Graham being unfortunate enough to have to play in Regions C and D, and either of those schools would make the finals of the region championship if they played in Regions A or B. I wrote it then. I disagree. I will reinterate, I still disagree. Goochland, Poquoson, Central-W, and East Rockingham are all better than Graham and Gretna right now. Could things change by seasons end heading into the playoffs? Sure, but for right now, there is ZERO indication Graham or Gretna would be finalists in a Region A or B game.

I see your point for this year and last year but the West and now Region C & D have been pretty dominate for a long time in 2A. I'm not saying there haven't been good teams in A/B, obviously have been.

Any team or fan that says they would win that region or this region if they couldn't win where they are is just making excuses. I would rather compete in a strong region than win in a weaker one anyway.

Region C has been dominant. Region D hasn't been anymore dominant than Regions A or B. I would rather play a far more difficult schedule in games 1 through 10, and let the chips fall where they may come playoff time, and not worry about what region I'm in

I certainly wouldn't say any region has been dominant, Appomattox has been dominant. Before them, C or D may have won more games or championships, but by small margins.

I have to agree with @lucastookis it was kind of disrespectful to say this team or that team would be in finals in another region. There are at least 4 top 10 teams between A and B (Central, East Rockingham, Goochland, Poquoson). So to diminish them like that can be construed as disrespectful whether that was the intention or not.

I have no issue with an opinion holding that Graham or Gretna would make the region finals in Regions A and B. It's fair and just, but simply one I disagree with. Obviously, no way to know or tell because thise teams play in Regions C and D. One final thing, because a region is more competitive (4 teams pretty close) in Graham, RidgeView, Union, and Richland's doesn't automatically mean that region has the best one or two teams .The only way to tell is come playoff time

Think Gretna defense will keep them in any game no matter who they play. The big question is whether the offensive play caller will go to the air if the ground game is not working?
I think that is a reasonable concern. Balance and surprise. Dont get too predictable. Also what type of air attack.
