Region 3C​

In Region 3C boys, Staunton (21-2) earned a third seed and Wilson Memorial (19-4) claimed a fourth seed.
The two Shenandoah District teams, along with No. 1 Western Albemarle and No. 2 Spotswood, will get first round byes.

Staunton will host the winner of No. 6 Heritage vs. No. 11 Turner Ashby Monday night at the Paul Hatcher Gym.
Also on Monday, Wilson will host the winner of No. 5 Liberty Christian Academy and No. 12 Rocktown.

Western Albemarle will host the winner of No. 8 Monticello and No. 9 East Rockingham, while Spotswood gets either No. 7 Alleghany or No. 10 Rustburg.
Both of those quarterfinal matchups will be Monday.

The Wilson Memorial and Staunton girls both got spots in the Region 3C tournament also, but neither got a first-round bye. No. 5 Wilson (18-5) will host No. 12 Heritage (7-16) Friday night at 7 p.m.
The winner goes to No. 4 Broadway on Monday.

No. 11 Staunton (9-12) travels to No. 6 Liberty Christian Academy (16-5) Friday for a 7:30 p.m. game.
The winner will be at No. 3 East Rockingham on Monday in the quarterfinals.

In addition to Broadway and East Rock, the other top seeds are No. 1 Spotswood and No. 2 Western Albemarle.
Spotswood will host the winner of No. 8 Turner Ashby and No. 9 Rustburg, while Western will host either No. 7 Alleghany or No. 10 Rockbridge in Monday's regional quarterfinals.

No. 6-seeded Pioneers get loose in the second half for the runaway win in the region 3C first round.
Freshman Miles Tyree with 22 points for the Pioneers. Marchello Toms finished with 14 points.

All 12 LCA players register points, with Tre Smith’s 15 leading the way.

Rocktown’s Deacon Smith scored 15 for the Raptors.
 
Final Girls Basketball: Wilson Memorial 63, Heritage 24.

Region 3C first round. No. 5 Wilson is at No. 4 Broadway Monday.

The Knights will play the regions number one overall seed Spotswood on Monday.

Thanks for such a complete report. Since so many of our local teams have not yet started, it was almost as if the regionals were a "next week" thing for everyone. But quite obviously lots of folks got the party started tonight.

The Cougars finish 17-7 on the season
 
So for the boys it’s #5 LCA at #1 Western Albemarle and #3 Staunton at #2 Spotswood

Before tonight I was pretty certain that this would be a Spotswood/Western final and though that’s still likely I am not as confident. Spotswood looked a little rattled tonight and though Western handled Monticello very well, I was impressed with LCA tonight at Wilson. Some exciting games for Wednesday.
