Region 4A Semi-Final Results

The Region 4A playoffs featured a six team tournament and the top two seeds made the Region Championship game.
 
Churchland 70 Smithfield 59

scored 21 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as Churchland pulled away in the second half to defeat Smithfield 70-59. Senior Aveyon Jordan added 19 points and six assists for the Truckers who improved to 17-7 on the season.

The game was tied early in the 3rd quarter but Churchland ended the quarter on an 8-0 run then scored the 1st four points to start the 4th quarter for a 54-42 lead. Jones had eight and the 3rd quarter and Jordan put the game away withh eight points in the 4th quarter including back-to-back fast break layups. The Truckers led 64-49 with under four minutes to go.

Smithfield made it interesting in the final minute forcing Churchland to put their starters back in during the final minute. Jayden Wiggins had a game high 22 points including four from deep range.

Jahsia Wilson added 10 points and six rebounds for Churchland. Jeremiah Fisher chipped in six points, four reboundsd, four assists and three steals.

Hampton 60 Denbigh 37

Top seed and Region 4A host secured a championship game spot by defeating the Denbigh Patriots for the 3rd time this season 60-37.

Senior Malik Johnson scored 17 points and senior point guard Daron Baugh added 10 points and seven assists for the Crabbers who maintained a comfortable lead the entire game. Hampton led 13-2 in the 1st quarter and 25-11 with three minurtes to go before halftime.

Denbigh, playing scrappy basketball, trailed 32-16 at halftime but then held hampton scoreless for the 1st four minutes and pulled to within six (39-33) after a layup by Jeremiah Bren.

Baugh found 6-foot-7 sophomore Gavin Kay for a dunk followed by back-to-back steals and layups from Baugh and Johnson to extend the margin to 48-34 with 5:13 remaining.

Denbigh wasnt able to get any closer and both teams cleared the benches with the game no longer in doubt.

hampton dominated the boards against the smaller Partriots. Sophomore Abraham Taft grabbed 14 rebounds while scoring eight points. Kay added 10 reboundsto go along with four blocks.

Denbigh was led by freshman point guard Kevin Parker who finished with 13 points three assists and three steals.
