Region A Boys Soccer Top 12

1 - Rappahannock
2- West Point
3- Northampton
4- Middlesex
5- Northumberland
6- Lancaster
7- Windsor
8- Franklin
9- Mathews
10- Surry
11- Essex
12- Washington and Lee

Rappahnnock over Lancaster 6-1.

Middlesex over Carver 4-2.

KW over Mathews 4-1.

Northumberland over Essex 3-1 (Friday).

I could fairly easily argue that the top 5 Region A teams plus the West's Galax (9-0) from Region C make up the top teams in the state.

Region B's Riverheads (5-5-2 this season) has been good in the recent past.

Of course, only two teams from each region make states so some strong Region A teams will be sitting home while lesser teams make the dance.

I believe this occurrence also happened in Football (it was Region A v Riverheads) and similar in Basketball. It is how it is I suppose.

Keep an eye on Auburn as well. That coach is building a full system there. Not sure the pieces are all there this season, but it should be a hard game for most in playoffs.

Excellent. Thanks for the input! Yes, I had seen where Auburn recently shutout Radford (well done). Looks like they are on a good winning streak. I hope that they continue to do well.

If any team other than Galax or Riverheads wins it all, we will have a 1st time state champion at least in what is considered the modern era.

I would predict a new champion this year...but then again, I'm don't have a great track record for finals predictions.

Lancaster 3 Essex 0 last night

Northumberland won over King William 1-0.

KW came in with a 10-1 record. It was a classic fight to the end, 0-0 at the half. It was a good one to be a part of.

Other games this week - Rapp won over W&L 5-1,
KW over Middlesex 4-2, Lancaster over Essex 3-0 (2 PKs).

West Point beat Mathews last night, 3-2. WP scored with less then 5 minutes to go in the game. Great game. Mathews has struggled at times this season, young team. Last night's game showed what they're capable of doing.
