REGION A OUTLOOK
The playoffs are shaping up with each passing game. This week's big games in the Tri-Rivers and Tidewater districts highlight this Friday. Who will be making a long trip out west and who will save their home crowd on gas? Planning will become more solid after this week!
Treven Easter will be ready to carry the load for the Bulldogs against rival Sussex Central.
SUSSEX CENTRAL (5-2) at BRUNSWICK (3-3)
The Bulldogs are hoping to have quarterback Darren Owens back after an injury in the 4th quarter versus their upset loss against rival Park View. If the senior star can’t go then the elusive Isreal Reavis Jr. will keep the offense moving. Treven Easter is their dependable back who always requires attention. Easter shifty moves makes him a nightmare for many defenses but he will need help from the offensive line against the Tigers quick defensive front.
Sussex Central will need a big game from their quarterback Malik Delk to accompany the dependable An’Tae Motton at running back. The Tigers passing game struggled versus Franklin but will have a huge advantage versus a Bulldog secondary that is it’s glaring weakness at this point. It will be interesting to see if the Tiger’s have the confidence and belief their pass protection to allow Delk to strike down field.
BOTTOMLINE: If Owens can play then the Bulldogs will have a much greater chance in this one. However, he needs to be 100% as the Tiger defense is physical. Expect this one to be a battle to the end.
PREDICTION: Brunswick 21 Sussex Central 20
Darrien Duck has become fearless under center for the Broncos.
GREENSVILLE COUNTY (4-3) at FRANKLIN (5-1)
What a difference a week can make as Franklin now is full of confidence that they can do anything after their remarkable come back. The team they will be hosting is looking for something to ignite their fire. The Broncos 4th quarter comeback showed the maturity that many believed the young squad lacked. Their defense hangs their hat on getting into the backfield and it will be crucial for them to have success doing that Friday night versus the best passing team in the Tri-Rivers.
Greensville is a future powerhouse with loads of young talent on the horizon. However, winning can jump start their success sooner than later and with quarterback Daimond Turner at the helm. Wide receiver Jordan Peebles will have a clear advantage all night versus the Broncos secondary. The Eagles will just need the protection, quick routes, and smart choices to make this one interesting and take advantage of some opportunities no one else has been able to expose.
BOTTOMLINE; Franklin will continue to send more defenders than the line can block. Greensville hasn’t developed the aggressive and fierce mentality yet to deal with such pressure and that will be the difference. Too much Quayshaun Jefferson and Duck in this one.
PREDICTION: Franklin 42 Greensville County 14
King William is posed to be a dangerous sleeper come playoff time.
MIDDLESEX (5-2) at KING WILLIAM (5-2)
The Tidewater district crown will be on the line as Middlesex looks for the upset versus a talented King William squad that has dominated the district for years. The Chargers must get solid production from running back Raquan Marshall who can be tough to handle. King William has been known for slow starts this season and Middlesex can’t have a turtle like start with them.
Lafayette Pendleton will be the key to King William’s ground game but expect him to be keyed on heavily. Opportunities for Ryan Huffman and Taige Brown to get better production on the ground will be glaring all night. King William is currently an 8th seed and in the bracket with top seeded Clarke County. Any movement toward 7 or 6 will put them in a much more favorable bracket.
BOTTOMLINE: This game means a lot to Middlesex to give the Cavaliers their first district loss since 2008. If the game was in Saluda the chances would be better but King William is too talented and have too much to play for.
PREDICTION: King William 36 Middlesex 20

Sussex Central is currently a 10th seed with top 4 talent and they won’t be reward for the higher seed that would host them. Franklin as the 3rd seed has the opportunity to lock up their position with a win this Friday. Essex may overtake Riverheads if Stuarts Draft can get the victory over the Gladiators on November 6.
