The championship match is set in Region II as James Wood travels to Loudoun County on Saturday night at 7.

James Wood (22-3) won the Northwestern District this season and rallied to beat Potomac Falls in five sets in the semifinal round. The Colonels are led by sophomore outside Katie Houser (35 kills, 34 digs in the Pot Falls win) and senior libero Kelby Jackson.

Loudoun County (24-1) has been the top program in AA over the last six years, with four state championships (2007, 08, 09, 10). The Raiders have won 14 straight and their only loss came to AAA power Stone Bridge in five sets. The Raiders have lost only nine sets all season. They defeated Handley in three sets in the semifinals. LC has plenty of hitting options and talented size. Senior Taylor Heuwe was co-player of the year in the Dulles District and fellow outside Maggie Phillips also made the first team.

Nuggets: JW has won each of its last three matches in five sets. It will compete well. LC has won 59 straight Dulles District matches and the last six Region II championships. The Raiders have only four seniors on a 16-player roster, so they are set for years to come.

Predict: LC in four (would not be surprised if it went five. JW is playing clutch right now).
