Residency Requirements

Need some advice from keyboard ADs-

We have a three sport athlete (junior, but eligible to graduate this year due to our semesters and he taking a lot of high school credits as 8th grader) that will be moving out of the county with his family. Since he’s already lived and played here his whole schooling career, what kind of ramifications would he face if he stayed in the county with a friend in order to finish here?

Whole lot of landmines on this one. You had better be in close contact with your AD to sort it out prior to making any decisions and not jeopardize anyones season. Might also want to get in touch with the VHSL to determine your best route. Best of luck to the kid. Hope he gets to finish out things with his friends

I believe he can stay at his home school until he graduates with no penalty to his eligibility.
